'Out Of Gas'
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
We went and saw these guys
With Uncle Floyd's brother, Jimmy Vivino!
Vivino is SUCH an amazing guitarist. He had the crowd on its feet several times with his solos.
They are a talented family!
Oh, and Gary Oldman of all people introduced them and was enthusiastic and charming, and revealed he'd been a fan for 10 years. He asked for a big welcome for them, and then said, "You in the cheap seats can applaud--" and then paused as you could feel the delighted wave of Beatles geek love wash over him as he waved to the boxes and told them they could "rattle their jewelry."
CD format to be abandoned by major labels in 2012.
What the commenter Anex said.
Buy a CD, and you have the music even if your computer crashes completely. Download-only format, not so much.
Could that article be more thinly sourced? Not that I don't think things are headed that way...
Robyn Hitchcock does a set list for AV Club.
Interesting just to hear him talk about the songs, but also interesting as he sorts through the music biz from the 70s to the '10s. The horrible flanging production of the 80s and the current state of limited releases for those discerning few who want an actual object that will remunerate the artist.
Because of that Hitchcock setlist and the comments, I got Ole Tarantula and it's pretty spiffing great. One of the better sounding Hitchcock records, I think. Fantastic guitar sound. I can see why he thought of this as more of a Soft Boys record.
Ha! I didn't realize the song "Ole Tarantula" was really a detailed description and celebration of Tarantulas.
