Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

“Not dead yet!”

Sadly, not on this collection.

ETA: Got momentarily excited when I did a search through my music and came up with it. Then I realized it was the theme from Pirates.

D'uh!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

jealous

Yeah, I don't really have a lot of meet-your-heroes stories, but that experience was great.

“Not dead yet!”

I'm still playing around with trying to get an evokes California/lounge/beach/sixties soundtrack going.

So far I've got:

Caravan- 80 Drums Around the World
Surfer Girl- The Beach Boys
Telstar- The Tornadoes
Misirlou- Martin Denny
I Only Want to Be With You- Shelby Lynne (has a wicked nice lounge feel)
God Only Knows- The Beach Boys
If I Fell- Evan Rachel Wood (From Across the Universe

Suggestions?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I Only Want to Be With You- Shelby Lynne (has a wicked nice lounge feel)

I'm curious about this version, because I *love* this song and firmly believe that nothing beats Dusty.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Barb, "Pipeline" by the Chantays may have the deadliest bass line ever. And a surf music set doesn't really feel complete without something by Jan and Dean, but I can't think of anything that really fits -- maybe "Dead Man's Curve."

And I mention "Beach Baby" by First Class not so much because it fits with the rest of your list, but because it's a great '70s surf sound record that deserves to be remembered. And it isn't.

Pretty much the theme of the song. "Beach baby, beach baby / give me your hand / give me something that I can remember..."
