There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Tep, can you play MP4s?
I believe so.
but because it's a great '70s surf sound record that deserves to be remembered. And it isn't.
Pretty much the theme of the song. "Beach baby, beach baby / give me your hand / give me something that I can remember..."
Barb, "Pipeline" by the Chantays may have the deadliest bass line ever. And a surf music set doesn't really feel complete without something by Jan and Dean, but I can't think of anything that really fits -- maybe "Dead Man's Curve."
Oooh-- "Pipeline!" Definitely works. I'm trying to stay away from a super uptempo surf feel here, but at the same time, some Jan and Dean does seem called for, doesn't it?
Heh-- just dug up the Ramsey Lewis version of "Hang On, Sloopy" although after watching the OSU/Texas game the other night, I'm not sure I'm ready to hear it again.
ETA: Teppy, the Shelby version is up at brawk.
You know I'm with you on the Dusty love, so I approached this with extreme skepticism, but I think the reason it works is because it's so different.
Hee.
You laughin' at me, Liese? *g* It's like I was saying to Lewis-- "Dang, I know that the [Florida State] War Chant is annoying, but it was designed to be annoying, you know? I'm not sure that "Hang On, Sloopy" was ever meant to be played at that tempo and so. many. times. over!"
Teppy, the Shelby version is up at brawk.
Thanks!
but at the same time, some Jan and Dean does seem called for, doesn't it?
Check out "Dead Man's Curve." It isn't really uptempo. It's more midtempo and menacing. Well, as menacing as Jan and Dean could be.
Oh, I'm well familiar with "Dead Man's Curve." I'll have to play with it within the context of the playlist-- see if I can make it work. I think it'll work.
And stifling the guffaw at the thought of Jan and Dean as menacing.
Also, being a fickle creature, I already took out "Surfer Girl" and replaced it with "Don't Worry, Baby."
