Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
American Woman by the Guess Who.
Any others?
"American Woman" - The Guess Who
"American Squirm" - Nick Lowe
"Ghosts of American Astronauts" - Mekons
"Soy Loco Por Ti America" - Caetano Veloso
Self criticism:
"The American Ruse" - MC5
I would add Springsteen's Born in the USA and any number of Mellencamp songs to the list.

They are both American.
Eater - "Thinking of the USA" [link]
They are both American.
Yep, but I thought from David's suggestions that had been added.
Pointed Sticks - "American Song" [link]
D.O.A. - "America the Beautiful" [link]
David Bowie - I'm Afraid Of Americans [link]
Celibate Rifles - Thank You America [link]
Billy Bragg - "Help Save the Youth of America" [link] (and I'm sure lots of others)
Robyn Hitchcock - "America" [link] (abstractly negative?)
Wanted to add Green Day's "American Idiot," but they're also from the USA.
John Lennon wrote and recorded a lot of anti-war songs when the USA was involved in the Vietnam War, but there isn't a lot of criticism of the USA as such in them. Though maybe the Beatles as a group make the list with "Get Back"?

I was kinda' wondering that.
These suggestions sound good - I'll check them out when I get home....
