"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Well, if we're in the mood for gorgeous, hearbreaking Brian Wilson melodies as sung by talented female vocalists I'll recommend Fantasy is Reality/Bells of Madness sung by his daughter, Carnie.

hip deep in pie

This is possibly the worst thing that I have ever seen. Rebecca Black, Friday: [link]

It's not really much worse than anything I've heard from Kesha. The only thing missing is a few years of hookers and blow.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Perhaps the best mashup of styles since Dread Zeppelin?

Presenting, Jim Morrissey: [link]

Ann, that's a ferret.

The only thing missing is a few years of hookers and blow.

There aren't any hookers in Ke$ha's new single. Though the video is fun in a silly over-the-top way, what with James Van Der Beek (who's grown up very nicely) and unicorns.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I keep trying to get people to watch that video, and they give me the WTF CRAXY look.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

MTV brings back 120 Minutes.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Huh. For a long time that was the only show on MTV I watched.

All of which begs the question: Decades after the show debuted, do we even have an "alternative music scene" anymore? MTV2 already covers indie bands quite well on shows like "Subterranean." Maybe this is their chance to tap into the wealth of Gen X nostalgia.

So they haven't said what exactly the programing will be?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My bet is that they're just going to re-run old episodes of 120 Minutes. Which would be JUST FINE.

(Hec, remember the video compilation you made for me with tons of stuff from 120 Minutes? I ended up having it transferred to DVD, and love it to bits.)

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

If they brought back Liquid Television and The Maxx, I'd be much happier.

They already do that on VH-1 Classic....

...which is where I got all the clips for Jilli's tape.

I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to find out that the Goth subculture had failed to stay in touch with its video roots and that the "Bela Lugosi's Dead" video had gone unseen for so many years.

But I'm very glad Jilli now has Peter Murphy in his alabaster prime and Daniel Ash in his fishnet shirt to keep her company.

My favorite vid on that mix, though, might be the Dead Can Dance video for "The Carnival is Over" by Ondej Rudavsky which is so gorgeous and lush.
