Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh, I get that java. I almost learned to hate Annie Lennox because I heard "Walkin on Broken Glass" approximately eleventy billion times.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Mark Lanegan is gonna sing to me tonight.

I'm fervid. Fervid enough to take my thesaurus and check alternatives for "excited", because really, that doesn't even begin to cover it.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I have strange dislikes for certain vocalists. Ian Curtis, Thom Yorke (but I liked him on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack), Mick Jagger ... oh, and the Ian Curtis clone who fronts Interpol. Ugh.

WEIRDO.

Ahem.

But then, I can't stand Kate Bush. She's like freakishly twee nails on a chalkboard.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

had a whole album become unplayable on my iTunes, the length of every track displayed weird in the last couple of days and then went to 0:00. Anyone have something like this happen?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

But then, I can't stand Kate Bush. She's like freakishly twee nails on a chalkboard.

This is why I did not every try to get you to listen to Emilie Autumn, and just told you about the whackaloon fan wankery. Because EA is what happens if you cross Kate Bush with old-school Courtney Love.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

msbelle, I have not had that problem.

Ple, you can probably skip Joanna Newsom.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I used to hate Tori Amos' voice (oh, those high breathy "aaahhhahhs"), but grew to love her. I tend to prefer covers of Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell as opposed to them singing.

Pretty fascinating dissection of "Tik Tok" and why it sucks. [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, that was incredible. At least as much for the parts that aren't about Ke$ha as for the parts that are.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wow. That just kept going...and going...and going. I haven't heard the damn song, so I eventually stopped reading because I didn't care. It seemed pretty interesting, though.

Joanna Newsom took some getting used to, but I can dig her now.

From the little Joy Division I've heard, I much prefer Interpol.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

smonster, thanks for the link! That was fascinating. And long, but definitely worth reading (though I still haven't heard the song, and will probably endeavor to avoid it now).

At least as much for the parts that aren't about Ke$ha as for the parts that are.

Yes! I loved the part about "Single Ladies" in particular.
