Does anyone happen to have a copy of "The Moderns" soundtrack? For years it was my Sunday morning music, and evidently I gave away or sold or lost the cd. I'd love to hear it again, and it's out of print.
'Heart Of Gold'
Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
This is a cool song and video: Florence and the Machine: “Dog Days Are Over”
Damn, is Florence Welch one seriously glorious culture vulture in this video, or what?
From the production team’s official press statement: “Florence is the shamanic leader of a surreal orchestra where spiritual elation explodes into smokey psychedelic anarchy. Each musical element of the song is personified by a group of colorful characters that combine 60’s girl groups, Hinduism, gospel choirs, drum circles, paganism and pyrotechnics. Florence is a painted primal force of nature that whips a religious experience into a riot.” Yep. And those blue and gold Andorian Motown beehive girls definitely take it to the next level.
Have downloaded the EP but have not listened to it yet.
Lungs was one of my fave albums of last year. I love "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" the most but the entire album is excellent through and through.
Hank Williams got a Pulitzer. Sort of. [link]
A posthumous special citation to Hank Williams for his craftsmanship as a songwriter who expressed universal feelings with poignant simplicity and played a pivotal role in transforming country music into a major musical and cultural force in American life.
Random Paul McCartney & Wings question: In the song "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", is Admiral Halsey the Admiral Halsey of the US Navy (of WW-II fame)?
eta: The Admiral Halsey of the US Navy was quite famous in the US during WW-II, but I don't now how well known he was in Great Britain....
My next liner notes gig:
Julie Brown's Trapped in the Body of a White Girl featuring "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun."
I didn't realize her sketch TV show featured pre-Friends Jennifer Aniston, pre-Spongebob Tom Kenney and pre-Seinfeild Wayne Knight.
She had an eye for talent. (see also: Earth Girls Are Easy)
"The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun."
My 8th grade Halloween costume.
"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"
I just had that in a crossword puzzle! And didn't know the "Paul and Linda McCartney song admiral."
In case anyone was wondering how recent posts in this thread relate to my life.
My 8th grade Halloween costume.
I surely hope somebody captured this on film.
"The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun."
The flip side, "I Like 'em Big and Stupid" was also a winner.
The flip side, "I Like 'em Big and Stupid" was also a winner.
Yeah, that was actually the A-side.
I didn't realize that she's kept so busy as a writer and producer. She did the Jonas Bros. Camp Rock movie.
