I have to admit, I also really like his remake of "Kiss." It's delightfully cheesy.
Plus Art of Noise. What's not to like?
I must admit, ever since I saw BOUND I've had a secret fondness for "She's a Lady". And I thought he was a riot in MARS ATTACKS!
Clearly I need a Best of Tom Jones album.
HA! I find that song strangely compelling, but then I find La Brit strangely compelling in general.
I think I may have to acquire her new album in some form.
I love both Tom Jones and Xanadu.
If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it!
For fellow fans of the Cory-Corb-Ben trinity of holy americana, Last Chance Diner has posted a new song by Cory here.
And make sure you listen through to the end, because he included (shh and spoiler font)
Cory's Irish-influenced cover of Lucero's "It Gets the Worst at Night."
I just might get through the rest of the work day with this on repeat.
eta and since i am listening to it on repeat, here are some lyrics.
Someone screwed the sky too tight
I laughed and filled my lungs with light
I wish I may, wish I might
Line my coat with kites
My chairdance/must-sing-along to songs are pretty predictable, for the most part:
A whole bunch of stuff by MCR (off of all their albums, actually)
Plasticine by Placebo
Guitar Hero by Amanda Palmer
Days of Swine & Roses or Devilbunnies by My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde
Nobody Likes You When You're Dead by Zombina and the Skeletones
Fairytale of New York by the Pogues
This Is Halloween from the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack
... and of course, the song that I will listen to on repeat for hours on end, Last Of The Famous International Playboys by Morrissey. I think I need to listen to it right now, actually.
Remembered another one:
Stevie Wonder- Uptight (Everything's Alright)
Stevie - SIR DUKE
Alterted Images - Happy Birthday
Lady Marmalade
Rob Base - It Takes 2 or Joy & Pain
Nanci Griffith - Ford Econoline
