The singles on the Rhino comp American Power Pop in the DIY series include some things where I think Chilton is backing Chris Stamey.
Probably the Summer Sun 7". That's a great one.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

What a brilliantly random rant:
“DUTCH FAGGOTS!!! GODDAMN FUCKING DUTCH FAGGOTS!!!! A WHOLE FUCKING COUNTRY FILLED WITH NOTHING BUT FUCKING TURD BURGLING FAGGOTS!!!! I FUCK YOUR ASS IN HEAVEN AND HELL!!!! FUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOU!!”
I also liked the "please don't hit me I have a brain tumor" gambit.

Coupled with "It's against my religion!"
I'll be doing a little tribute to Chilton starting right at 8am at [link]
Some songs, some stories (mostly ones linked to from here).
I've been dark for a few days getting a new work computer. But I'd also like to give a nod to Chilton's work with the Box Tops. Any 16-year-old who can belt "The Letter" has something special. (Though my favorite Box Tops song is "Soul Deep."

I think it's commonly known as "speed".
Something I will definitely miss about Austin: I left work yesterday, walked three blocks to a nearby pub, and caught the Meat Puppets (currently the Kirkwood bros + Shandon "Son Of Doug" Sahm) play a white-hot set for the low price of nothing at all. Unfortunately, there were work guys at my house or I would have stuck around for Grant Hart afterwards.
You'll have to start a Mid Atlantic by the South festival, Corwood.
Ha! I guess I will have some time on my hands when I leave my job. Why not?
For those who missed it, my tribute to Chilton lasted over thirty minutes. The podcast is here.
