For the benefit of Ple, Jen and other Leonard Cohen fans, I share this bit from an interview with Rufus Wainwright:
"One time I was hanging out with Leonard Cohen and his daughter," he says. "She was talking about this child she had known as a baby who she hadn't seen for a few years and how he was now grown up, and she said to her dad: 'You know, it's pretty amazing watching how the baby became a person.' Leonard looked at her and replied very drily, as only he could: 'You know, it's pretty much the only amazing thing there is.'" Wainwright laughs loudly. "It's clearly not a necessity for everyone, but I feel, you know, I shouldn't deny myself all that Âamazement…"
Party's tomorrow, Frank. You've still got time to get socialized!
Whoops, didn't see this until today (and must have misread the invite). Good thing I DIDN'T show up on Saturday.
Latest artist I know nothing about but totally love an album I found on eMusic: Berntholer.
Merry Lines in the Sky
is awesome! "Simulation" is my fave cut so far....
You missed a great party, Frank! And, great punch too, even if the dispenser turned out to have some problems....
Were *you* the punch dispenser, Theo?
even if the dispenser turned out to have some problems....
You had to make sure the valve was turned off all the way or else it would drip drip drip on the floor for 20 minutes before anyone noticed the huge puddle ambling its way through the kitchen. But it was really cute! And only 20 bucks at Target! [link]
In other, more musical news, check out Springstein's oh-so-white dance moves: [link]
Jacques Brel and "The Impossible Dream" are just a perfect combination of music and singer.
I prefer Jacques Brel singing "Next."

Gavin Friday did a nifty cover of that on his first "solo" album.

I have that album! It's the one he did for Island with all the Tom Waits sidemen.
My favorite cover, though, is Scott Walker's.
I have a whole compilation of Brel covers in English, including folks like Bowie, Walker, Marc Almond.
