Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Is the Patti Smith song "About A Boy" about Cobain?
Yes.
I know I've seen a list of songs about Kurt and Courtney. There's a lot.
Courtney inspired "Bruise Violet" by Babes in Toyland, among other songs.
Huh. More than I'd thought there'd be.
Thanks.
Is the Patti Smith song "About A Boy" about Cobain?
Not on any of those lists: Mary Lou Lord's "Some Jingle Jangle Morning", which, oddly, was also originally titled "About a Boy".
(or maybe not so odd, given Nirvana's "About a Girl")
Mary Lou Lord's "Some Jingle Jangle Morning",
I love that song! I have that CD and an acoustic version on a 45 that I should digitize or find a digital copy of (as I like the acoustic version better).
Twice I was going to see her play Chicago, but both times she canceled to go back into rehab. Don't know what she's up to now....
eta: I loved that song for several years before I found out it was about Kurt. Also, she was the one that Courtney attacked on stage once, right?
That list left off the Go-Betweens' "When She Sang About Angels."
Don't know what she's up to now....
Lives in Salem, raising her tween daughter. She still performs occasionally, and was recently talked into booking a Wednesday night music series at a new venue in Somerville. I see her around.
Also, she was the one that Courtney attacked on stage once, right?
Wouldn't surprise me.
