S2,R4, B1
I'm swimming against the tide here but as much as I love the fact that John finally acknowledged what Dean had done for the family, I've got to go with Sam's plea to be a person Dean can lean on. Sam needs to be that person and it is heartbreaking to me that, at this point in the story, Dean just can't let him.
let me help
what am I supposed to do?
Season 2, Round 4,
•Proud of you
•What am I supposed to do?
Pain wins for me.
Season 2, Round 4, Bracket #1/1
Sam: Dean, you're my brother, alright? So whatever you're carrying, let me help a little bit.
-- Huh. When it comes down to it, I need Sam to tell Dean things more than I need John to tell Dean things.
Dean: When you were little, couldn't have been more than five, you just started asking questions. How come we didn't have a mom? Why did we always have to move around? Where's Dad? I remember I begged you: "Quit asking, Sammy. You don't want to know." I just wanted you to be a kid, just for a little while longer. Always tried to protect you. Keep you safe. Dad didn't even have to tell me. It was just always my responsibility, you know? It's like I had one job. I had one job, and I screwed it up. I blew it, and for that, I'm sorry. I guess that’s what I do. I let down the people I love. You know, I let Dad down, and now I guess I’m just supposed to let you down, too. How can I? How am I supposed to live with that? What am I supposed to do? Sammy? What am I supposed to do?
-- No brainer. Dean was lost with a dead Sam.
Yes, for me, Supernatural is all about the emotionally screwed up brothers.
People being wrong on the internet!
I don't know, I'm starting to see the "let me help" point of view.
No takebacks! Unless, of course, it's about the Impala.
And, man, I can see and hear John's voice cracking talking about the injustice of Dean's childhood, as we learn so much more in that moment about the both of them, what Dean gave, and what John took, and in this moment what John is going to give and Dean won't know he's taking, won't want to take because it goes against everything he's ever been.
It said so much about their characters and their relationship and was so brilliantly acted, and I keep
also
hearing the commentary with JA talking about JDM tearing him up with it.
I voted down the line for John. But we're at the end. It's time for tough choices.
Because I couldn't have said it better than Cass did...
- Dean, you're my brother, alright? So whatever you're carrying, let me help a little bit.
- What am I supposed to do? Sammy? What am I supposed to do?
No brainer. Dean was lost with a dead Sam.
Word.
I'm trying to remember what some of the choices for S3 were for the next deathmatch, and wondering if it's going to come down to such absolutely hurty quotes, too. I'll bet folding money S5 will, but S3 and S4 are more of a mystery to me.
I'm still playing catch-up with DVDs, and I just finished "On the Head of a Pin". Anna is awesome! I'm assuming she dies sometime between here and late season 5. I'll be sad to see her go.
