It was such an old fic that it didn't occur to me that she wouldn't have marked it as such. I'm not mad at a writer who abandons their work, because hey, not my bitch (okay, shrift had a Highlander/Crow crossover she never finished yonks ago, and I still wonder about it woefully), tell a person up front!
I'm following a couple WIPs right now, which I don't usually, but they're crossovers and I can't help myself. I've set up LJ to email me when they post anything with the right tags, or I would lose them. But I'm going to be paying even more attention to headers, but I hate skipping ahead to the last posting, in case of spoilage.
There are maybe two authors I'm willing to follow through a WIP, and neither one have ever abandoned a story halfway through. But I'm not a huge fan of multichapter fics anyway. I tend to like one-shots, and even then nothing over 10K words if I can help it. Good Big Bangs are my one exception.
There are two epic, well-written (and infamously unfinished) fic in SG1 fandom. Turned me off to WIPs. 4-evah.
I've been hoping for a Swan Song coda that works in the D/C now that Cas is all arch'd up, and finally found this one: "Long Black Cloud Coming Down"
A little too easy in some respects, too tidy, but, Cas throwing Dean against a wall never gets old.
ehab, click on the thumbtack icon at the top of the WIP you want to follow, then click "a new post tagged (with the title or theme of the fic", and click the email box if you don't check your LJ messages regularly, and eljay will tell you when the story has an update. If writers remember to tag, and most actually do. I'm following a few many some WIPs this way. And a couple of specialized communities. It's working so far.
Beverly thanks for that tip. I wish I'd known it sooner as there are a couple WIPs I've read that I can't recall now other than a vague unfinished feeling.

It's a promo, but also kind of an awesome look at how we got from there to here. I'm not a big fan of E.S. Posthumus, beyond their awesome interpretation of Requiem for a Dream that's been used in every other movie trailer, so the music is a bit generic. And it makes me sad again that I didn't get the epic BAMF finale I was dreaming about.
But I still really enjoyed the recappiness of it. The awesomeness really starts with Michael saying "Do you know why that is?"
ehab, email me with whatever particulars you remember about the WIPs you're looking for and I'll check around for them. Or Perkins might could help, she's pretty good at that. ETA: Profile addy's good.
I've been thinking about whether I want Castiel back for season six. Between speculation, fantasy, fic, and rewatching past episodes, I think my answer is a sad "No".
I think what mostly decided it was the canon aspect. Because I love the show. I love Castiel. I love Dean and Sam.
Except.
Except I am obsessed with Castiel. And when he's onscreen, I find myself putting Sam and Dean second. The eps he's in, I'm skipping ahead to the Cas parts. And then I'm unhappy with the sum of the Cas parts.
So, I think, if at the least, to see Castiel relegated to a guest spot. Maybe an awesome two or three episodes where the focus and attention can be warranted, without disservicing Sam, Dean, or Castiel in the process.
What if Dean and Castiel have to unite to save Sam?
