Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

S1, R1, Bracket #1:

Yorkie--came out of left field, quick, disarming, funny
Don't cuss at me!--Missouri knew Dean needed sharp, not soft
White meat--Bravado overlying true heroism
Touchy-feely--amazed he could get out a tongue-twisty sentence as nervous as he was

Bracket #2

Slaughter--Utterly Dean, bare to the walls of who he is
Kill you all--again, Dean's raison d'etre
Chick flick, bitch, jerk--laying series groundwork here
Metallica--character foundation

Bracket #3

Saving people--This one is hard, because both are cornerstones
killer truck--great line, a real standout in a bad ep
squeal--mostly because I'm not fond of the other line, for multiple reasons
haunt--I sneer in the face of death--oh Dean!

Bracket #4

I need your help, Dad--the first time we see how deep the cracks in Dean's armor are
Shorts--'cause, funny!
do my best to be brave--another chink in the armor, and what makes Deano tick
Hold me Sam--series cornerstone

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Thanks to ita for putting this all together.

Season 1, Round 1, Bracket #1:

• shotgun/cakehole: what ita said.

• don’t cuss at me: Because Missouri is showing her love. What Bev said.

• Bikini inspector: I’m kinda blah on both choices so this wins by default.

• Self-help yoga crap: Bravado Dean.

Season 1, Round 1, Bracket #2:

• Meg/Dean: Dean making promises he intends to keep

• Hurt my brother: see above reasoning.

• bitch/jerk: iconic Dean and Sam

• Humming Metallica: Because I use this as status at times.

Season 1, Round 1, Bracket #3:

• Family Business: It’s what we are built on.

• Killer truck: by default

• Wish you could too: recently this scene means so much more.

• take care of the car: means I love you in Dean speak.

Season 1, Round 1, Bracket #4:

• Phone call to Dad: First time I wanted to break out the blankets and soup.

• shorts: because he really doesn’t

• Pie : The other line was more compelling but it was a lost moment for me. On the otherhand I still think of Dean and pie.

• You and me, we're all that's left.: Oh Sam.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have to say, from looking at the totals so far, some of you people are very wrong. But I won't post totals until closer to the halfway mark. We have 9 votes in for brackets 1 & 2, and 7 for 3 & 4.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Round 1, Bracket 1

  • Dean: House rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.

It's just classic. Classic.

  • Missouri: Is that an EMF?
Dean: Yeah.
Missouri: Amateur!

Who doesn't love a snarky Missouri? I love her.

  • Dean: Yeah, you want some white meat, bitch? I'm right here!

And a cocky Dean? Me too.

  • Dean: As long as I'm around, nothing bad is gonna happen to you. Now then, I know what we need to do about your premonitions. I know where we have to go.
Sam: Where?
Dean: Vegas.

Just made me laugh.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Round 1, Bracket 2

  • Meg: He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. That's when I slit his throat.
Dean Winchester: For your sake, I hope you're lying. 'Cause if it's true, I swear to God, I will march into hell myself and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God.

Meg was an awesome baddie. And Dean does not like his family messed with.

  • Haley: Must you cheapen the moment?
Dean: Yeah!

But he's still Dean...

  • Dean: No chick flick moments.
Sam: Alright...jerk.
Dean: Bitch.

CLASSIC!

  • Sam: Are you humming Metallica?
Dean: Calms me down.

::grins::

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Round 1, Bracket 3

  • Dean: I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things—the family business.

It was our first SPN thread title. It's the reason we have the Epic Love Story of Sam and Dean...

  • Kat: Why would anyone want a job like that?
Sam: I had a crappy guidance counselor.

He really did. Sorry, Dean.

  • Sam: I wish I could have that kind of innocence.
Dean: If it means anything, sometimes I wish you could, too.

But Dean did want better for him.

  • Dean: I'd take our family over normal any day.

It's just that family, for Winchesters, is everything.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Round 1, Bracket 4

  • Dean: (to his Dad's voicemail) Dad, I know I've left messages before. I don't even know if you get 'em. But I'm with Sam and we're in Lawrence and there's something in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not... but... (tears up) I don't know what to do. So whatever you're doing, if you could get here... please. I need your help, Dad.

Dean's jackpot telephone moment.

  • Dean: Vampires! Gets funnier every time I hear it...

Vampires, hee!

  • Dean: But see, my mom - I know she wanted me to be brave. I think about that every day. And I do my best to be brave.

So, so broken....

  • Dean: What made you change your mind?
Sam: I didn't. I still want to find dad... and you're still a pain in the ass. But Jess and mom - they're both gone. Dad is God knows where. You and me, we're all that's left. So, uh, if we're gonna see this through, we're gonna do it together.
Dean: Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful.

And snarky.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I have to say, from looking at the totals so far, some of you people are very wrong.

I nominate Cass.
