I have to add that I think this impression of JA is what made Eye of the Tiger so much fun. Seeing him really go with that and have fun was really cool.
Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I have committed SPN-fic. 800 words of Ruby and the price she's willing to pay. [link]
I get the impression that JA is very much as he was in Eye of the Tiger around his friends, the crew. It is only in interviews and when he feels less a part of the ensemble that his shyness appears.
There is definitely a progression of JA becomming more at ease as the panels and con appearances have progressed. In earlier appearances you see him looking frequently for JP's social cues and support. His smiles didn't always reach his eyes. Now they are much more of a team. JP said he was not afraid to do the church window stunt with JA beside him. I have gained the impression that this is a very similar feeling that JA has towards JP regarding public appearances.
We got to watch them turn from boys into men. I am hopeful their future is fulfilling to them both, whether in front or behind the camera. It would be a nice thing for the fifth season if they were allowed to direct an episode. I don't expect genius, but then again they did have Kim Manners as a model.
eta: Yay 'suela! I can't wait to read. I guess I have to though because I can barely keep my eyes open. But I have that to look forward to tomorrow!
I realise that there is a danger of being a total pillock here, but I'm pretty much empathising like hell with this assessment of the Ackles. Even whilst realising that this is very silly, because heaven knows we're wildly different people. Still - I definitely grok the whole bouncing-around-being-funny-and-confident-and-shit-in-one's-comfort-zone (which in my case can happily include acting, and hosting shit with a big audience, and teaching classes) whilst also being secretly quite reserved in other circumstances. (And people who have met me within the context of me being sunny and Leo-ish are often downright incredulous about the whole shyness thing. But reserve: I haz it. It's just so shy that it hides really well.)
Meanwhile - YAY for 'Suela-fic! Looking forward to that one!
(Just need to finish my own gorram SPN story before I read, you know, anything. Finish, damn you! Finish!)
Yay! 'Suela fic! Next on my list to read.
Yes! Finish your story, Fay. Num.
Not so much with the pillock. I think all of us who tend to the shy can pretty much identify. Um, witness F2Fes, where many (most?) of us are manic for a while, then have to disappear into a dark, quiet space to breathe and recoup before going forth to be party Buffistas again. And some of us don't manage the rebound well, or often.
As regards the con thing, I'd be unable on so many different levels to attend such a thing. But if you have the chance, and you think you'd enjoy it, by all means, consider going. You might want to take a look at Super-wiki's account of Jared at last year's Aussie con, to get an impression of how things flow.

See, really I'd just like to buy the boys coffee and talk about acting, like I can with my mates. But that? Not so much on the cards, and although I am tempted by the notion of getting to hear anecdotes and things, and quite tickled just by the idea of having a big geeky geekfest day as part of a holiday to Australia, I'm mostly wincing in sympathetic embarrassment at the thought of the bacchanalian frenzy of estrogen-charged Beatlemania that it must surely be.
Speaking of "the bacchanalian frenzy of estrogen-charged Beatlemania that it must surely be," does anyone know what the final total was for that auction on eBay for lunch with JP?
So, my erratic SPN rewatch continues, based on the which-disk-can-I-dig-out-of-the-DVD-mountain-next approach. And having seen some of Season 2 again - Jesus, Padalecki upped his game! Just in that short space of time, he got SO MUCH BETTER. I'd been vaguely thinking it was a more gradual learning curve, but I've got to give the guy mad props. Rewatched, oh, gosh, loads of things yesterday, but especially loved Houses of the Holy and the first Trickster ep, and the Ghost-doesn't-know-she's-a-ghost ep, with Tricia Helfer, and then I sort of stumbled into rewatching bits of S3, with a vague sense of "Oh dear, skeevy gender issues..." and, yes, there are things that make me wince, but they're a lot fewer than I remember. And I'm really enjoying the hell out of both Bela and Ruby so far. Bad Day at Black Rock remains one of the funniest things in the history of funny. And I had to rewind and rewatch Dean's little now-I've-got-the-rabbit-foot moment near the end, where, after defeating the bad guy with a pen and a remote control, he's all "I'm the Batman!" I...really, I wish I knew how to do techie things, because I'd love to have that little moment as an animated icon. He was SO FUNNY. Well, okay, and Sam losing his shoe? Jesus. And then in Bela-and-the-ghost-ship ep, with Sammy getting groped by the lovely old lady, and, and Tuxedo-clad Dean being all hot and Bela all "...hmm, we should have angry sex after this" and Dean's response, oh, Jesus. Bless.
...er. Yeah, so you'll gather that quite a lot of yesterday involved me going "Oh, Dean! Dean!" And occasionally "Awww, Sammy!"
Today, I am considering venturing out into the Outside World. But, y'know, don't hold your breath.
eyes DVDs thoughtfully.
edited because even though Bella introduced herself with a Lugosi gag, I'm guessing her name has two Ls.
edited AGAIN, because "the batman" is very much not the same as "the Batman." Although the idea of Dean being the personal servant of an officer in the British army is not without its charm.
edited Yet a-fucking-gain because (1) evidently my guess about the Ls was wrong and (2) "ghost shop" does not mean the same as "ghost ship".
sighs. feels like Columbo.

Hee. That must have triggered the same thought with me because I looked it up last night. Five people paid $2,500 each. If I was Jared, I would be embarrassed that people paid that much to be with me.
eta: I am loving Fay's rewatch excitement! ::hugs SHOW::

Nope. Just the one in Bela. Well, okay, there are two if you count the one in Talbot.
