Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

No, to my knowledge and in my opinion, they missed out on all the payoff of the damage Mystery Spot did to Sam. It was partly due to the strike and the loss of enough episode time to tell that story. But there was enough emotional and personality change that, to me at least, the effect was apparent.

Don't forget, in pre-strike order of episodes, Jus in Belo came before Mystery Spot, and there would have been a couple of eps to deal with MS fallout. I deeply regret the loss of that time and story. And not least because it at least a few of those eps would have been directed by Kim Manners.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Interesting. I didn't know that about the order. I had been looking at Sam's consideration of killing a virgin as part and parcel of the changes he went through in Mystery Spot.

Damn the strike-shortened season. Just sixteen episodes. Tragedy.

Poor Henricksen.

I'm left wondering again about Ruby and how early they had decided she was going to hang with Sam in S4. Because her ploy to get him to kill Lilith and open the seal would have been a wee bit glitched by her buying it in JiB. Or was she that sure they wouldn't have gone along with it?

Because books.

She was a good bluffer, either way.

I always watch Jus In Bello and bemoan the true pure love Dean and Hendricksen surely would have shared, down the road.

Do we have anyone's word besides hers that the spell she was preparing would have actually destroyed her?

The boy has a way about him, doesn't he? I mean, one could draw some authority-conversion parallels between Henricksen and Castiel. Go against the FBI, go against the heavenly host, because Dean gave a good pitch?

Okay, sure, why not?

That's about the only wiggle room there is, that maybe the invoker was immune.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I deeply regret the loss of that time and story.

Truly.

I was listening to Enter Sandman on my way home, imagining the SPN imagery one could use for a whole vid of that, and wondering if it has ever been done well.

Bricks by Luminosity. Streams here. Though it's actually a mashup. The Sandman bits are stellar.

Okay, Lum's YouTube is vid gold. (Same link as above and click for more from same user.)

I KNOW. ::mourns::

Also? One of these days, something I watch NEEDS to cast him as a good guy. I keep seeing him playing the bad guy or the heavy, and damn it! He should be the snarkyhotsexy lead.

Because books.

I never see him *anywhere* which is a crying shame, because he is one beautiful man.

I read one good Dean/Hendricksen way back, and I have no idea if I saved it, but it was perfect. Exactly the relationship I imagined they would have.

There's a REALLY good gen AU with them as partners. Really, really good. IIRC, it was a Big Bang one.
