Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I like my memories of S3 more than the actuality, it seems. There are definite moments that I like, and fierce-assed Sammy is ♥, but S1 and S2 are better. However, it does have A Very Supernatural Christmas which is a top five heartbreaker love for me.
Dean's hyperventilation and Sam's completely sincere concern about it crack me up.
I don't have as big gender (and race) problems with the show as many people do, but I definitely think Kripke caving to the nutjob fangirls and removing recurring female characters from the tapestry is major major fail.
Also looking forward to Sam's speech to Dean in ... whatever the episode is called when Gordon returns. That was a heartbreaker.
That's tomorrow! And then A Very Supernatural Christmas is Wednesday!
Unfortunately that makes Malleus Malleficefuckarum Thursday, but you can't have everything.
I'm trying to work out my favourite episodes. I'm holding out on S3 and S4, because I'm not episode-specific on those yet, but if I were going to list ones from S1, 2, and 5, I'd probably go like this (in airing order):
S1
- Skin
- Faith
- Asylum
- Shadow
- Salvation
- Devil's Trap
S2
- In My Time Of Dying
- Crossroad Blues
- Croatoan
- Nightshifter
- Houses of the Holy
- Born Under a Bad Sign
- Heart
- Hollywood Babylon
- ...okay, pretty much all the rest of S2. Damn.
S5
- The End
- Changing Channels
- The Song Remains The Same
- My Bloody Valentine
Oooh, I'd have to look at the episode lists to do that properly, and I can't because I need to finish writing copy, and then tackle another chapter of the book.
I keep meaning to ask you if got the SPN essay anthology, and then I worry that you hated it. In which case, sorry?
Well, for when you have time, IMDB SPN episode list and summaries. You know. Because I
need
to know.
I got the book this weekend, but I haven't cracked it yet. I don't read as much as I used to, or I should, because of the headaches. But essays should be easier to consume. I'm looking forward to it.
You're so helpful. With TEMPTING DISTRACTIONS.
::narrows eyes::
Oh, I already went there. And then closed Notepad and the IMDb tab. It's useless really. I'm such a character whore, and even the less-than-well-written S1 & S2 eps have important character and backstory notes my completist heart craves. I didn't get as far as S3, because even MM has redeeming ('cause, no, not enough to redeem) some good moments, primarily the last scene with Dean and Ruby.
I'd do better listing the handful of eps I really didn't like. And even then, some gold among the dross.
I think ita lives for Tempting Distractions (tm). At least that is one link I'm not to worried about clicking.
Working from home today so I turned on SPN, but I didn't pay as much attention to this episode as I usually give the boys. There are pieces of it I like, but overall, it bugs.
For example: The Benders. But then we got Deputy Hudak. And the "I pretty much saved him from a fire" speech. And Dean's acrobatic under-the-gun handcuff lockpicking. Sam's smile when Dean finds him.
Route 666. Uh. Okay, shirtless Dean. And all those behind the scenes photos of their understudies stunt doubles, and Dean catching snowflakes on his tongue, and Kim Manners directing while Jared sasquatches behind him. See? Gold among the dross.
BUT I WANT TO KNOW!!! EVERYBODY DO IT!
Yeah, I'm pining for the distractions right now. I'm waiting for a co-worker to become available for the next big task off my to do list.
To be fair, I thought I could just list favourites for S2. I had no idea I liked as much of it as much as I did. It's shorter for me to just list what I didn't like. Need DVDs stat. I'm ready to rewatch. And I don't remember if I put all of Papa John's episodes on my S1 list, but I kinda meant to and was trying not to be excessive.
I don't know why the illusion of control means so much to me.
Wasn't this one of the episodes that Chuck apologises for, along with Route 666?
Oh, and I've been wondering about a couple points in the canon timeline--when do the boys get the anti-possession tattoos, and when do we find out John had been a mechanic?
