The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

(Also, I bristled a bit at the snarky comment about Bobby being the poster-child for aging gracefully. Because Bobby is awesome, dammit. And smarter than the boys.)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh thank god it's not just me. I've been pissy all day, and sort of assumed I was taking it out on Show. Good to know--wait, no. It's not a good thing how clunky, disjointed, and lumpy this episode was.

Be better, Show!

Well, not too many people have weighed in yet, so you might not ultimately be in the minority. (ETA: Ha! See?)

The tying up bit just made me laugh. I just... I've been there, maybe is why I find it so funny. I mean, clearly not there there, but so sure of myself that I didn't even bother to check the (il)logic of what I was doing and then, boom - there I'd be, flat on my ass wondering, "What the hell just happened??"

The point about anvils, I got no quarrel with, as noted.

I'm with Jilli, although I admit I found the bit where Jay escaped kind of funny, rather than stupid. Although the writer passed off the bit where they got arrested for a felony fairly easily, when in fact they would have been printed immediately, and then god knows what would have happened.

But yeah, it was just clunky as hell, with all the parallels really forced instead of allowed to develop naturally. Did we really need Jay to keep saying that Charlie was a brother to him? Seriously?

And what do you bet we see Sam later this season making some kind of offer to Dean and Dean considering killing him? Oh, yes.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am with Consuela, Jilli, Juliana, and Beverly.

Especially about this, and about the total WTF of the boys getting arrested and let free once the charges were dropped. Are we supposed to assume the police in Iowa don't know about fingerprinting?

I admit I found the bit where Jay escaped kind of funny, rather than stupid.

Me too, on this one point. Love the Bostwick.

Really, it was a poorly-written and poorly-plotted episode, with some interesting thematic parallels and a couple of really strong guests who made up for a lot of flaws. The funny bits were pretty funny, and (for once!) the episode didn't end with a forced and emotional conversation in, on, or near the car. As a result, the pacing wasn't as bad as it could have been, either.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I admit to curiosity as what awful thing Sammy has to do to charge up his powers...

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I'll bet he has to eat Bobby's pig hat.

The principals were on cold meds or something, though. Flat delivery, to the point I had to wonder if they'd sent in the clones. I guess lines that uninspired can't be salvaged by technique or tears.

I did love tying up the magician and being surprised he escaped, though.

These I enjoyed enough to have enjoyed the ep as a whole. It felt very one-offish. Which is fine.

And the rain of anvils is not a new thing, so I don't really count it anymore. Much.
