Cross-posted in my lj:
Firstly, read Season Four Meta: Sam Winchester by quarterwhore. It's a well thought-out analysis of Sam's actions and motivations throughout the season, supported by quotes from the episode and backed up by psychological insight.
Secondly, I am way past tired of hearing that Sam started the Apocalypse. We know there were 65 other seals that had to be broken before Sam killed Lillith (with good intentions, let me add. He was trying to stop the Apocalypse, remember?), including the first one that was broken by Dean. So to use the sports aphorism that no one player loses a game, the entire team loses together... why is no one blaming whoever/whatever didn't stop the other 64 seals from being broken? The situation they're in now was caused by a multitude of factors and bad decisions, but it is in no way solely Sam's fault.
I do agree with you completely. I can't remember: was Dean's breaking of the first seal ever revealed to Sam? Obviously, the angels know, but does Sam? Just speculation here and no spoilers, I just don't see how can they lay this entirely at Sam's feet given that both demons and angels were manipulating him towards this outcome.
I'm off to read quarterwhore's meta. Thanks for the link!
Dear lj messageboard poster: perhaps your spoiler warning on your fic could be rewritten to not
actually contain the spoiler?
Seriously people, get it together.
People are already writing about the coming season? Not just speculation on what the Winchesters might do during or after the Apocalypse, but actual stuff that will appear on the show?
Up as far as episode 5.06, that I've seen so far. Casting spoilers, episode titles, sides.
I think I disengaged with non-Buffista SPN fandom right in the nick of time.
It's hard out here for a spoiler-avoidant fan.
TWO DAYS PEOPLE!!!!
(BTW, my dvds left Indiana on the 6th - is it REALLY going to take them 'til the 14th to get to me, here in Illinois?)
I went on a binge of ficreading this weekend--mostly SPN Summergen stuff, but also a longass apocalyptic thing that was pretty good. And a longass AU in which the brothers are Olympic athletes that was... less good. Not bad, but too long.
So now I feel like I'm ready for the new season.
I also feel like I should write an apocalyptic story before the season starts.
This doesn't give me a lot of time.
I watched nearly all of S2 yesterday (couldn't find disk 2, I think my sister must have it). [Oh Sam. Oh Dean.] Am definitely getting into SPN headspace for the new season.
