I don't think it's fair to blame the writers when it can't happen without showrunner/executive approval. I think it was extremely shortsighted on the part of the whole room. That whole episode was cheap corner-cutting, but the writers are responsible for how it's done. I blame everyone for
what
is done.
Also, since Sam got resurrected by a demon, we already knew they could get their hands on the good guys.
Unrelatedly, I think Show should swap out "The road so far" for "So that happened".
If they won't give up "Peace when you are done," I doubt they'll give up "road so far," even if the stories are all set in the bunker and baby's retired to the garage.
It was the only funny line in the episode. I wanna keep it.
That episode was underwhelming, too. Rowena is such a caricature, although the ending made me laugh.
There were some acting fails in this ep. The scene with the first demon who was trying to buy Dean's soul for sex was painful. As was Rowena's accent. Ugh.
Isn't the actress actually Scottish?
Yerp, she's Scottish. I'ma have to give her the benefit of the doubt. If anyone gets to butcher (sounded fine to me) a Scottish accent, she'd have dibs.
No comment on last night? I was really happy to see the blonde sheriff was highly competent as well as being a soon-to-recover doormat. I prefer that they didn't play her for 100% laughs.
Two, two recurring female characters.
Yes, 100% agreement -- I really enjoyed Sheriffs Donna (I googled) and Jody together. I liked that they gave Donna a bit of a Fargo vibe. Different personalities, but they were complementary and also had some good personal conflict and resolution. They packed a lot in to their interactions for one ep. Spin off!
Spin off!
Best backdoor pilot ever!
Overall really liked it, it felt like an old-school early seasons episode. And unlike the backdoor pilots of recent years (wish I was confident this actually was one, though), I wasn't wishing they'd skip to the Sam & Dean parts whenever they weren't on screen.
This is the fifth time Jody has come across supernatural creatures run amok without a Winchester or Bobby connection. I think the brothers ought to stay in Sioux Falls for a while and give her the full training course, complete with her own copy of John's journal and whatever would be useful from Bobby's library.
