Fic recommendation of the week: offbeat D/C where Cas is kinda Amish, kinda on his Rumsprigga (they're more hippy, but isolated and modest similarly) and a musical prodigy. The Family Business is classical music--Dean is a cellist riddled with stage fright that caused him to drop out of school, and Sam is a violinist studying at Juilliard.
Cas comes to school near Dean and ends up rooming with him. It's a slow sweet relationship that involves rope suspension and just about as much John-vilification as I can take. No wacky misunderstandings due to lack of communication in this one...hopefully it ends up on the good side of twee.

I wonder what Metatron is going to do when Gadriel (Gadreel?) turns on him, cause, that's going to happen, right?
Gadreel did have a look in his eye when he found out that the WInchesters were unscripted.
I wonder if Metatron is deluding himself with the complex characters he's created with them. I like that they're not being called upon to play their roles (hello season 5), and I did kind of like that Gabriel (whether it was him or not) was the tool used to try and get Castiel to play his. We never saw Metatron typing their parts of the script, though. Just Castiel's (the bit where he hugs Gabriel and the bit where he walks out to his flock). Anyway, Crowley knows they're unpredictable. It's gotten him this far. I do think Metatron overestimates his everything, as well, as the implacability of narrative.
I like that the show is so seriously committed to storytelling as a plot element. I don't think this season is the best example of it, but hey. It is an interesting distinguishing factor between it and most of the other shows on the air (OUAT must pay some homage to stories, right?) by trying to mix the gritty reality of two hustling criminal brothers on their own fighting the biggest monsters and the admitted construct that it's not true.
What do you think was the impetus for Cas to decide to lead? I can see why he wouldn't accept the bribe to do it, but tearing down his Winchester Wall of Clues was a surprise to me, even though I knew he'd call the flock eventually. I'm assuming the borrowed grace is a low grade explosive ticking time bomb in comparison to the nuclear option the Mark of Cain will take. I also wonder how much of the Hell stuff is in Metatron's script, including the Mark. That's going back to God stuff.
I'm also assuming the angel tablet has to be destroyed or lost, since it's now an unlimited source of angelic powers, and giving that to anyone on the good guys' side is back to the S4 problem of having a powered up angel in your pocket, except exponentially. I hope hope the show is constantly conscious of the asset that Misha is and doesn't write him off that way, unless he decides to exit. Long may they bribe him with directing opportunities (he told Colin that he'd been an inspiration in that regard, which was nice, especially considering he's following in Jensen's footsteps as well).
I posted two things this week. One was my first serious attempt at animated giffing and the other was my first metaphorical type SPN picture. I guess I shouldn't be surprised the gif got notes before the picture's only one to date, but after my last picture post, I'm way too hung up on notes on pictures in general. It's just that...I'm proud of it, dammit. I am an admitted feedback whore (not soliciting any from you--begging doesn't count) and it's very difficult to interpret silence (the tags on the previous picture's reposts were very informative).
