I recently started following Pastrymisha on tumblr, and she's a fun D/C blog to read--finally someone who's not crazy in ways I'm not crazy. And she writes fic, which I don't really read on tumblr much, but she has a fairly long WIP going that's Cas showing up at the Batcave with 18 other fallen angels and it's angsty as shit and killing me. I like her idea of Dean issues, even if shipping Cas/Jody/Sam scares the fuck out of me.
On the flipside, I grabbed another WIP from AO3 that looked grammatically correct, and FUCK. Did you not see season 5? I actually stopped watching because she was clearly about to re-iterate The End and I didn't want her to mangle it. Her InnerDean is not the guy I like. His gay panic is a particularly low IQ sort, her Dean likes to undress for sleep (S5!) and is mortified at the idea of another guy seeing him in boxers and is wary of alcoholism (S5!) because of how dangerous his father was when drunk and armed. Sam's a smug douche and Castiel is inept.
But I thought maybe if I skimmed I could find a payoff...and then she had Dean ask Cas if he hadn't tried some "cloud seating" and...you know sometimes you figure it's a mispelling and other times it's a lack of comprehension of what they're actually writing about?
But yet she chooses to not directly quote canon, while conveying conversations from episodes that don't need to be changed.
I revisited an abandoned fic I started long ago and asked my sister to re-read it now that she's better versed in canon. She is one of those people that doesn't think they swear. THEY SWEAR. Some of her suggestions, however, made the fic shippier than I had ever been going to get, which cracks me up, because she's still firm that D/C is not the ship I said it was. She's writing her own subtext!
