No studying? Damn! Next thing they'll tell me is I'll have to eat jelly doughnuts or sleep with a supermodel to get things done around here. I ask you, how much can one man give?

Because books.

It's a great substitute.

What's Thursday's Child?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's an epic long D/C fix Endverse fic, that starts with the premise that they won, banished Croatoan, and Starbucks is back open. Also surprise RDJ. By strangenessandcharm. At this point I forget if she's had other names.

Because books.

That's ... an interesting surprise.

They make movies of the Supernatural stuff in this universe and John, see?

This artist does funny noses (seriously, once you start staring, it's obsession-making), but her stuff is really sweet. So far she seems to multi-ship: D/C, Sassy, Wincest with a through line of adorable.

Oh, shit--I did not know there was an SE Hinton-related dub-con mental issues foofurrah. I'm only going as far as summaries of a summary post: [link] but basically:

  • lasciviously mentions Meg giving asylum-Cas a spongebath
  • includes pics of Misha with it
  • fans are "Wot??? Dubcon!!1"
  • SE blocks fans, and says something troubling to others about mental health

That's a lot of fun, it seems.

I was wondering why I was all Baby's First Fic with Thursday's Child--I've tossed sis a couple standalone fics when she hadn't seen anything yet (including It's Always The End Of The World Somewhere), but this is the first she's read that I know of since starting mainlining.

I am touched that it kept her up past her bedtime, but now she's referring to events in it the same way we discuss eps, and...shit, I'm gonna haveta reread it now. Man, life's awful.

In terms of "oh, I should have known better than to click on that at work" links, the "that band AU" tag on tumblr involves lead singer Cas, guitar-playing Dean, leather pants, and lust. I will be doing more research from home, stat.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Thursday's Child is so good. I only one complaint, and that is for the very very end, which is the cheetos handjob. It kinda missed the quirky off-beat/I'm trying not to be a romantic cliche vibe.

Shit, I went to look Thursday's Child back up (I closed the window with intent of self-preservation--good job, ita !), and ended up reading her non-AU D/C The Little Mermaid, and feels! Well crafted feels: [link] I sense a lot of "catching up" in my near future. But, damn, I'm chafing to draw D/C, and there are only so many hours...

Apropos of a conversation someone started elsewhere--what is the key characteristic of a Byronic hero? Someone was saying that Dean couldn't be one because he was poor, but now every time someone is brooding, I am wondering if they qualify (not only do I not know what Byronic means, I also didn't recognise many of his examples, like Heathcliff. I will need to be talked down to on this one. Thank dog for Angel. At least I got one).

eta: Right, I meant to add this buzzfeed breakdown of Jensen's pout to the post: [link] Frankly, I think the list is both short and overly dependent on Jenny Thunder. But a good start.

Amy - Apr 12, 2013 10:14:27 am PDT #28152 of 30002
Because books.

A Byronic hero doesn't have to be wealthy. He might be (see Rochester or even Heathcliff, later on) but it's not a prereq, and he's not at all impressed with the upper classes.

I think the only thing Dean is lacking is education, but there are clearly exceptions to that rule (see Heathcliff again). And Dean is also more educated than a lot of people in specific ways.

I wish all the Jenny Thunder pictures would go away. They really make me cringe for him.

Yeah, that poster (who was ragging on Batman, so clearly WRONG about life) seemed to think upper class was key. Phooey on them.

I enjoyed enough of the Jenny Thunder pics at the time that I wouldn't wish them out of existence. I was sincerely into pics like him getting sprayed by water, and at the time found the cheesy Western stuff attractive. However, brick pants and polka dot shirt...poor dear.
