I think they announced they were going to dance around what happened to being "killed" in Purgatory when Cas mentioned, which is annoying. Saying that you'd get re-Purgatorycated or something would be fine, if they also included enough downside that it wasn't just like putting another quarter into the pinball machine--or that there are severe severe ramifications if you've been assumed bodily there, like Sam or Dean or Cas.
COME ON PEOPLE. WE'RE OCD, AND WE LIKE CONSISTENCY.
I feel on Tumblr I reblog stuff to disagree with the emo-ness of episode reactions. Dean did not ask Benny to come home--he asked Benny to die. He thought he'd come home, but that's entirely different, IMO, in terms of getting your feels all over the episode.
Luckily, I suppose, Tumblr is not designed for back and forths, and it's easiest to ignore people, so I don't feel I'm getting all up in people's faces, but still. Did their Dean say different words? Did they not hear Benny screaming how awful a time he was having topside? Is weird.
He thought he'd come home
Exactly. And I'd go so far as to say he hoped he would come back with Sam, just because Dean doesn't want to be in purgatory anymore, so he can't understand Benny wanting to be. And I think if Benny had come back, he would have helped him acclimate better or something.
But, no, it wasn't, "Please come back to me, my darling!" Not at all.
because Dean doesn't want to be in purgatory anymore, so he can't understand Benny wanting to be
I'm glad he didn't get put into the position of rehabbing Benny, because I don't get the impression it was sustainable, and even if Dean isn't saving the world or walling off Hell all the time...needy. Needy in a way without exit strategy.
If he'd been a little less monomaniacal about Sam, he might have heard what Benny was saying, might even have realised it was no guarantee of return if if he'd wanted to, but I think everything fell by the wayside. Once again. I think the only reason Dean wouldn't raze the earth to save Sam is because he might dig that Sam wouldn't want all that, but I'm sure his first bender would have him back in a crossroads or whatever it'd take again. Apple pie and Lisa didn't hold him back.
Oh, god, I'm the IO9 SPN crazy fangirl. I don't even know...I mean, I know--I got my star and was made a full poster based on an SPN comment, and every "natter" post about SPN is phrased to me, but now with the recaps it's like my POV is on trial, and I have to defend my theories and likes and dislikes.
It's...it's weird. And I'm going to assume no one can see me who would recognise me from any of my other fandom activities, because I have no profile.
But, hey, we're almost at the end of the season, right? I'm sure I'll make peace with the weird soon enough.
I swear, my sister is better at season 6 than I was. She's on episode 2:
I DO NOT TRUST THESE HUNTERS. AND I DON'T EVEN TRUST SAM. IS HE REALLY SAM? AIEE.
Everything I learned about Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Limbo I learned from George Carlin. According to him Hell was Hell and it was forever. Purgatory was as bad as Hell "but you knew you were going home." Purgatory cleansed the soul and you eventually could go to Heaven. It's a funny routine, and if the writing staff are familiar with Carlin's understanding of Purgatory, then maybe Benny's sacrifice will promote him Heavenward.
I don't normally post links to my fanart on the board, but this is different since it's a birthday present for Amy.
IT'S FOR ME. ME! I love it.
Very nice, ita !. Thank you for sharing your drawing. I'm so impressed with what you do.
