Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Blood Brother got 1.78 million viewers. Which is really nobody. I don't understand enough about the numbers, though. I'd like to know how many people tune in, because although anyone with an agenda will explain what it is about that episode that got low ratings, if that's everyone that tuned in, maybe Bitten (which people seem to
hate
when they don't like it) is a culprit also. But if five million people tuned in for What's Up Tiger Mommy (highest rated ep of S8) and half of them ditched before the half hour mark, that's a whole different piece of information about fan response.
I mean, 1.78 million isn't that much less than 1.85, which was the season premiere (second lowest rated as far as SPNwiki got--just through Hunter Heroici).
Season 1 had eight episodes with over five million viewers. But that was an entirely different landscape. Not to mention network.
Poor CW--Bones, which struck me as another show no one I talk to knows about, had nine million viewers on a random 2012 episode I pulled off the net. The last time I looked at ad rates, SPN had the cheapest ads on the major networks, without having the lowest ratings (probably 2 years ago). But on that same Monday as Bones and their near ten mill, CW got
.79
million with 90210. Which has to cost a metric ton to shoot, relatively speaking, what with filming in LA and having such a massive regular cast.
Wow, you know way more about the ratings than I do.
I think, though, even if the CW's ad rates are lower than others, it's still a matter of ratio? Their production budgets can't be as large, either, or the cast salaries. Also, what they need to make to sustain the CW is probably a lot less than what networks need to make, with their way, way huger infrastructures and news departments, etc.
Yeah--I doubt many other major network stars make as large a percentage of their show-related income from cons as J2. And they'll be able to cash in on that for a while--12 cons a year, mad cash per...yeah.
My sister is now up to the second Ghostfacers ep--she had the same Victor turnaround excitement many of us did, and then boom, in a literal sense.
And apparently she's been keeping mum about her bowlegs appreciation these whole two weeks...I showed her the tag on tumblr is pretty much a Jensen playground, but unfortunately she can't see the People's Choice video with the pantslessness in Jamaica.
I am still totally agog at the Pastiel movement--I had no idea there was such an audience for the feminising of the badass warrior angel. I admit, I'm not clear what's left when you nip in his waist, flare his hips, and make him a lamb that's going to get pregnant with Dean's foxy babies, but still intend him to be male. The intersection/interplay with canon is so distant for me that I don't know why you don't, say, put Samandriel in his place.
Oh, and now I'm reading about someone tweeting the directors to get Misha fired (it's amazing what haterade does to reading comprehension), and Minions sending them violent tweets...
This is when I think, yes, the fans are all 15. It's the only vaguely non-depressing explanation.
Does anyone have a high res enough shot of Baby to determine if it has an Impala logo on it? I've gotten a decent look at the front and rear, as well as the driver side, and I can't see one, but hi res of the passenger side is eluding my search methodology.
Then again, it's hardly static:
The Chevy logo isn't on the promo shot.
Different Babys, perhaps? I mean, yes, I know there is only one Impala in our hearts. But onscreen and in promo shots, there are several and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't watch the details quite as carefully as we do at times.
I'd only paid attention to big changes, which is pretty much when they removed the cop light from the window in...S3?
But there's a post on my dash from a guy I got into Show of classic car logos, and I need to add Baby! But I can't even tell from all the images out there what a 67 Impala would have. And I don't want to be one of those "he undid his seatbelt to move into X's lap, bumping his knee on the gearstick as he shifted across" people. That area is one of the corrections I feel more comfortable leaving comments about--bench seat! Never seen them use seatbelts! Gearstick on the steering column (the fic I read where one of them fucks themselves on the gearstick was awkward for many reasons...)!
I would like to see them canonically climb over into the back seat. I suspect that would be a laugh riot, especially Jared.
I'd imagine being OCD and working set dressing or continuity could be very helpful, but also massively frustrating--the episode where Monk was on set somewhere and kept fixing everything was one of the rarer times it felt good to laugh about his non-neurotypicalness (I am still disappointed that they shifted it into a genetic thing, and not a result of his wife's death--they never made it clear how he could remotely have functioned without a Natalie in his life before, but I shouldn't be surprised by that show needing to make more jokes about the autism spectrum or any other aspect of not being neurotypical).
It's a two-door but this is what it "should" look like: [link] although that's not to say they could have made some modifications since Baby's been used, abused and saved the world. But that's a "correct" '67 Impala front end and front right quarter panel.
Rear quarter panels both have the logo originally [link] , but I don't know if Baby's kept hers. She's been wrecked and rebuilt so who knows what parts they used.
According to Misha's Twitter, the boys are at today's Nascar race in Vegas. Well, he and Jensen. The photo does not show Jared. [link]
