Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It does seem a little unlikely that a) no one has ever found it before, and b) there is NO way in without the key

Right now, all we have is a building. For all that Sam knows that if there is a key there needs to be a lock there's a remarkable blurring of Mordor and Erebor right now. We have no hint of most of what Larry said--the "supernatural motherlode" is so far a library--I'm not getting off them that Sam found magic, for instance. Or the fortress. They did find a great sooper secret HQ, but they've undersold on Larry's pitch.

I ran the Aaron scene back through a filter of a guy who's dating a guy but hasn't realised other guys would find him a plausible partner. He does not shut down the conversation or indicate that his orientation renders these advances undesirable. And there's absolutely no reason to speak to this guy for two seconds, but he totally does for quite a while.

I'm glad we didn't get the "I'm homophobic, but why don't you want me???" schtick. Grateful.

Amy--I never found a citation for that quote, just a self-feeding loop of tumblr entries. Jensen said he might have hustled his body for money, and Misha said he's a bottom, but Misha's word is worth approximately minus seven.

2 random thoughts:

  • Was that really the first time Sam said "son of a bitch"?
  • University means elbow patches, doesn't it? Do they go and buy that especially, or do they have TA disguises tucked just behind FBI in the garment bags we have never seen them carry? Maybe the batcave had some.

Because books.

I think it had to be, because it sounded so weird coming out of his mouth.

Maybe the batcave had some.

Oh, maybe. Good call. We know they have robes. God, I loved that his hair was still slightly damp. Dean's settling in at the batcave, dude.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

If it really has a magic spell that makes in unenterable without a key, plus magic utilities, it could totally be permanently the boys batcave. They will still have to spend time on the road in cheap motels but they will have a home base to come back to.

You know I love his shower priorities. He must have had so many crappy ones--at the very least inconsistent ones.

So many fics have one of them using up all the hot water. I've never stayed in any motel bad enough to use up all the hot water, and I shower pretty epically (although I'm not harbouring any forbidden love for an immortal of another species--that might be the key variable).

One IO9 commenter was worried the motels would go away if they have a home base--I'm not sure why they didn't want to think things through, but hey, fandom is full of humans, so...

Sigh.

I can't wait to watch it again. There's just so much to love. I mean, Hal Linden! Edlund's script! A gay thing! A GOLEM! Sam being earnest in elbow patches! NAZI NECROMANCERS!

It's almost absurd how much I enjoyed it.

I didn't enjoy it as much as the last two, but I enjoyed the last two a massive very distinct amount. So this third place would be a first place in many other races.

And at least I enjoy the bi!Dean talk it's generating on tumblr. IO9 didn't post a recap in the time I consider reasonable, so I don't think I'll read this week. It's remarkably easy to not read the articles anymore, since the format change. I'm mostly in their version of Natter, and the SPN recaps have become anathema, because of the way she words her dissent.

Yeah, she's clearly completely over the show, or very invested in being as snide as possible about it now. So I don't even bother to look for recaps there anymore.

I've loved this season more than last season, I think, although I'd have to sit down and really look at episodes to compare. I just don't remember enjoying any two episodes in S7 as I did LARP and the Real Girl and Everyone Hates Hitler.

Actually, now that I look, that's not true. I'm just high on S8 right now, I guess.

At least I don't claim any objectivity about the show.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

This EPISODE. Man, I love it so much when Supernatural's Jewish influences (of which there are many) show.
