Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
If I'd not known, I'd have said this was the one Jensen directed, to justify the lack of them. Would this have been filming around Thomas' birth? I'm not remembering either when he was born or when filming started.
I actually did like it. I'm possessive and jealous of my boy time, but they've kept to the alternating pattern and not had Sam talk about how he's leaving and Dean talking over him meant I could push that out of my head--and the "they talked about how they'd been apart for a year"--oh, I'd rather hear it than hear about it, but at least it sounded
good.
Of course, the bit where Sam does finally tell
us
will seem weird, because he's had no reason not to tell Dean this whole time. At least Dean is hiding something. I mean...Sam was just interrupted, right? Dean's pretty persistent, but please don't let them have had him be such a dick he's been interrupting him for weeks.
As for this ep, they'd definitely seen...the movie whose name I'm completely forgetting that was really good with the found footage...I'll go look it up in a second..anyway-that movie was pretty diligent about explaining where the/a camera was all the time. This ep violated the camera rules a whole bunch. But...TV. So.
A couple different cameras were used, and some of them were set up permanently, like the one over the kitchen table. Brian was using footage from all of them, and Katie did the same thing to finish the "movie". It was a little sloppy, but they showed the three of them with cameras enough times for me.
I liked the episode. I didn't see the end coming at all. And I figure the guys always deserve some time off if they can get it.
It was like their "The Zeppo" - but much less funny.
Earlier in the week my tivo didn't show an episode for next week - thank goodness it's in the queue now. I couldn't believe that there wasn't going to be an episode when the show's regular night was Halloween!
Oddly, Arrow is being shown on Saturday in Chicago next week.
they showed the three of them with cameras enough times for me.
Actually, that's part of the problem. I thought sometimes they
did
show all three of them with cameras--who's filming then? But some of the in the wood scenes/angles had no explanation, and angles changed when no one else was in the room. It's a thing I get OCD about, like checking to see if everyone in the story has touched something and been acknowledged by everyone.
I think if I hadn't seen Chronicle I might have liked this better. I didn't hate it, but, eh, coulda been better. The story was kinda weak.
"I am a golden god" was good stuff, though.
I'm about halfway through, and I don't hate it, or the actors. Still, wishing this was more of an outsiders pov than we're getting. Blink managed to be a satisfactory (more than!) episode while not advancing the season arc or characters in any way (that I can recall), but I also think that the Doctor had more of presence throughout via the video.
Man, I would flove a proper outsider-pov ep. As opposed to the totally random "they're totally doing each other!" observation that had no context.
the totally random "they're totally doing each other!" observation that had no context.
The first one was unmitigated Sterek-level no subtext. The second one I can totally dig, even though we didn't get to hear the conversation. But it makes way more sense.
I think if I hadn't seen Chronicle I might have liked this better
You know, I agree. I
really
liked Chronicle. Which does make me surprised I like this one as much as I do, because it was the poor man's (or the CW's) version for sure. But I liked the chick, kinda liked the first werewolf as the arc required, and hated Piggy (seriously--do kids still make Lord of the Flies ref--well, I guess it was written long before I was in school too, so...) just as I was supposed to.
And I felt Heart just standing in the background the whole time.
It was weird that there was no reference to what happened in Heart, right? Especially with Dean saying he never killed a pureblood (whatever pureblood means, I have completely lost track of SPN werewolf mythology if I ever had it).
The lecture the first bitten kid was sleeping through was about Lord of the Flies, so those references weren't completely out of the blue. I felt like I was supposed to sympathize with Piggy more than I did, and that I didn't was a problem. Perhaps I can shift my thinking on that. Because I just like liking things
I felt like I was supposed to sympathize with Piggy more
Really? Well, I missed the boat on that. I figured that he was supposed to be the beta who's beta for a reason.
The lecture the first bitten kid was sleeping through was about Lord of the Flies
Oh, hello circularity of sleeping through...
For anyone who is hanging around the house this weekend, TNT will be showing a 24-hour SPN marathon this weekend, beginning at noon on Saturday.
Also, for those who have Comcast On Demand, they will now be playing new episodes of Show instead of just the reruns from TNT (as well as episodes of Arrow and Vampire Diaries).
