I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Man, I stuck all the way through The Shattered One, and it turns out that it was a gen fic through and through. Still, one of the only two mpreg fics that didn't make me blanch and back click. I did a lot of skimming because I don't like fics where the cast of characters becomes too bloated, which this did at times.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Gen MPREG? That seems to not even have a payoff for including something I'm not interested in (and is often a squick). But I don't read her fic, so I didn't click. My LJ note for her includes "Beware". And I saw who wrote Jude. My note for her is "Crap. THE STAR IS NOT BECAUSE YOU LIKE HER. IT'S BECAUSE SHE CAN'T WRITE." So, no, I never tried the story. Didn't even get as far as the title.

Because books.

Most of my favorite authors aren't writing SPN anymore.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'll admit she kind of shook my certainty with the ventures into Sam/Kevin and that alpha/omega kink fic, but I have confidence that when she returns to more mainstream stuff I'll be enthralled again.

That alpha/omega fic was pretty enjoyable for me. I loved her characterisation, even if my brain will never accept the biology of homosexual alpha/omega/knotting sex. It's being painted as this primal genetic need (as opposed to something that's really really fun), but there's no indication of evolutionary payoff, and part of my brain will not shut up about it.

I don't need fun to have a simple evolutionary benefit, but the way knotting and heat is painted...why else?

Because books.

Yeah, the whole knotting thing is weird when it doesn't lead to breeding because ... that's what it's for.

That said, I've read a couple that were incredibly hot.

Where is this Sam/Kevin you all keep talking about? I have to read this for myself now.

Here you go, Amy: [link]

I have to admit, I didn't even look. I trust scaramouche with a lot, but....I don't know if I want that in my brain.

Oh, I'm happy to have it there. That was awesome!

Tumblr's sort of spoilery today, at least if you want to know nothing about next season. People are tweeting from the panel at ComicCon.
