Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I have seen a fair amount of "probably should die now, D/C can't get any better" reactions.

I mean, Cas was trying his damnedest for curtain!fic there--all the kitten fic people are peculiarly Kripked.

And, it's true--does anyone even know where Carver stands on the whole long-distance marriage thing? It could be Megstiel 24/7 come October.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I only read the first page on the twop forum. It's a mixed bag of love and hate. But 50% of it seems to be useless snark from posters trained by Demian.

Which, honestly, sounds better than last time I was there. But Demian and the general forum atmosphere irritates me so much they're not getting my page views. Attracting people that can't discuss both Sam and Dean in the same paragraph--yes, please herd them off together out of my line of site, and I will do my darnedest to pretend they don't exist.

Ooh! Whatsername--mobiusklein used to write some really toxic anti-Sam meta (like scenarios where Sam and Sampa *ate* *Dean* for T-giving dinner. And I know that sounds like fic, but it was framed as where the writers should take the character--and of course she doesn't want Dean dead, because she's rabid Destiel, but she is willing to sacrifice her favourite character if it means making Sam look bad. She must be SO FUCKING PLEASED right now I want to vomit.

Problem is, I'm also avoiding people cheering the idea of Sera unemployed, or who say that the series was ruined two years ago, all with the sort of blanket presumptiveness that gets right up my nose. Everything doesn't have to be framed with IMO--I get that you're talking about your opinion much of the time. But when you're telling me how to react, no, that's not subjective anymore. Well, not your subjective, anyway.

Because books.

Is the word that Sera was asked to leave, rather than choosing to try something new? I guess I assumed she was just ready for a new story, but I also don't blame her anything.

The word was also that Misha got forced out, so I am not taking any fan source as news, and I'm even going to be skeptical about sourced articles.

A lot of the reactions I've read are looking for vindication for their hatred of the last two seasons. Sera deciding she didn't want to do it any more isn't schadenfreudey enough, I guess. I mean, why wouldn't you want to do this? It's perfection, right?

Thanks, Kristen. Good to know.

I have a lot of respect and compassion for writers in general. Books are hard things to write. Episodic TV is a whole other ballgame, with a lot of really immediate pressure and reaction, and its success owes a lot to an entire cast and crew.

What are you talking about? The success of this show is *despite* everyone but Jensen and/or Jared, Edlund and/or Kripke.

As in--only the people you like did anything good, and they were locked in desperate battle with all the other, irrelevant, in fact somewhat malevelont (or at least incompetent) people, and the episodes you like are a testament to their fortitude, and the ones you hate are the detritus of their defeat.

Seven seasons is a really long time to work on the same show. I can totally see how she'd want to move on and do something new. After she took a six month vacation, that is.

You know how obsessively fannish I am with this show. I ADORE this story, and these characters, and would happily watch episodes ten years from now where they're fighting knee replacement and getting glasses.

But as someone who writes? This plot doesn't have a lot of new places to go that current viewers are going to like. Especially in terms of a Big Bad. I'll still watch it, because I am that way with this show, but I'm not expecting to be blown out of the water, the way I was in S2.
