I assume if killing Dick opened a gateway to Purgatory, there was something left to go back there. No idea what state he/it's in, or now capable of. You'd think being iced by a weapon created via instructions from God would involve some serious reduction in one's ability to further perpetrate evil.

Cas mentioned the monster souls preying on each other for all eternity, so I guess they're as hardy as Death indicated the rest of human souls are. So far as we know, the only process that might actually destroy a soul is degenerating into a demon over time and then being killed by one of the methods that work against them. At least it appears that killing them via the Colt, Ruby's knife, etc. renders them into a state other than being returned to Hell as with exorcism.

I do hope we get Sheriff Mills and Sam working together next season. I've always liked that actress, and the two of them have good chemistry.

I think Cas is just scouting the territory in Purgatory. So, does this mean Misha is back for a spell? That would be nice.

Art Crawl!!!

Wouldn't it be lovely if we got Missouri back?

Yes, indeed.

Missouri has such a huge presence in fanfic that it's hard to remember that she only appeared in one episode. I'd love to see her back again. (The sheriff too, although the sheriff's knowledge of the supernatural is pretty marginal.)

I've read speculation that Lenore and Madison might be wandering around Purgatory as friendly presences.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm pretty happy to see the door close on Madison.

I think that there's a decent case to be made for Sheriff Mills boning up on the supernatural recently, as well as being a general useful resource, what with her law enforcement job and all. I wouldn't feel betrayed if she didn't show up again, but she has potential.

Now, does Mary count as a normal person that didn't go on with their Reaper but also didn't go bad (like Molly)? Or was she a...something other that might go to Purgatory?

Cause if I were Dean, I'd be all "your father is such an ASSHOLE". Oh, wait, no, that wouldn't be Dean. That would be me.

Sometimes you read someone's comments and think "We watch the same show?" Because when you ask "Why would Dean think he has bad luck? They totally have good luck!" all I'm wondering is...how many episodes did you sleep through? Including this one? He didn't say he had bad luck, he said he was bad luck. However, he has also gone on record saying his life sucked, and I'm not sure where it's perked up recently...

Yeah, I guess I'm following some people for the art and reblogs, not the insightful meta.

Because books.

I'd rather see Dean have to fight off new and improved actual monsters in Purgatory, rather than familiar faces. Also, given that the Leviathan came from there, I think it might be hard to transplant characters we know into some creepy hunting ground and execute it well. Plus, Madison and Lenore are both Sam-related rather than Dean.

My money's on Sam working with Garth and Sheriff Mills at least once or twice, and probably needing to approach the Alpha again. Dean and Cas -- not sure what's going to happen there, or how long they can sustain their presence there by which I mean the writers). Probably not too long, I think.

I think Sam is going to be as focused as he was during Mystery Spot, but not as scary and OCD. Then, he was convinced he had lost Dean for good, and too soon. Now, he can assume he's alive, at least, and despite everything he's been through, I think he's reached a pretty admirable balance emotionally. I'm not worried about him breaking.

I would love to see Dean and Cas making out and confessing their truuuuue lurve in Purgatory, but somehow I doubt it.

I would love to see some mention of what's-her-name -- the wife left behind. Does Castiel even remember her? Does he regret yet another road bump left behind him?

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I just finished the finale. Will work my way through the 900 posts unread. I was so glad to see Baby again! Also, I never get tired of Carry On my Wayward Son used in this show. I'd like a disc with all the seasons finale clips of that song. By now, that would take a while to watch all the way through.

I've read speculation that Lenore and Madison might be wandering around Purgatory as friendly presences.

Lenore might not be that friendly to Cas now that his mercy killing has delivered her into an eternity of predation and counter-predation with other monsters in a murky wasteland.
