I'm wondering if Edgar just killed the angels' vessels out from under them. Cas held his own against ALL the Leviathans contained within him for quite some time, and even when they came bursting out of him like wasps out of a caterpillar it only seemed to traumatize him, not do irreparable harm.
Also, other than their unkillability (is that a word?), the Leviathans haven't seemed all that powerful. I mean, the Winchesters have temporarily won fights against several and a witch incapacitated one for days. Even peon angels should be way above those weight classes.
Aren't there only Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and ... maybe one more?
Michaelangelo. No, wait--
According to Wikipedia, Christianity recognizes three by name. Judaism recognizes seven by name. And four in Islam. Names and attributes at the wiki.
Castiel killed thousands of angels. Maybe that included all the Archangels.
I do kind of think Castiel owes humanity help in taking down the Ls, given that he unleashed them. But I'm going to write it off as a result of cage brain damage. Just because it affects him differently (and less fatally) than it affects Sam does not mean it does not severely impact him.
In the show's mythology, it appears that the only four archangels were Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel, and Raphael. So two have been destroyed and two are in the Cage.
Holy god.
Now they've grown up, I don't feel like such a dirty old lady anymore.
It feels sort of wrong since they're not really con pictures -- I mean, he's at the beach -- but at the same time, wow. I can't stop looking at him.
