I really thought that Dick may have told underlings one thing but who knows what he is really up to.
Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I don't really think they're curing cancer, even for their own benefit.
I also don't think the writers would set up that plotline -- cancer isn't a joke, and having murderous, oil slick creatures curing it when scientists have been trying for years? Not funny, but also not good horror.
So far only one person has suggested that Dick wants to cure cancer because it will make him look good and then he can be president.
I guess I could kind of see this, but I hope they don't do that.
I think it can be effective horror. I've read cancer-fixated stories that worked well. Octavia Butler's brilliant Xenogenesis stories had cancer-obsessed aliens, if memory serves. It was something about the human potential for cancer that fascinated the aliens, and that's why they wanted to breed with us.
The reasons I don't want to see it are entirely personal. I do think it can be done well.
I don't think we'd have been given a mislead at this point, though, sumi--it's too late, and it's too random, and I do think that whatever they want, it's not like what we've been trained to expect, because of the 30 year thing. So curing disease fits with that.
The question is--is it curing disease in the To Serve Man fashion, or is it some sort of perverted do-gooding, like they'll also fix the energy crisis, etc? I mean, they're clearly doing everything everywhere, and this is the first time we've seen monsters play with human toys. They're not looking for mystical weapons or spells or opening portals or doing anything supernatural. They're playing the human game, and they're playing it better than humans do.
That's why something like disease makes sense to me. It still very mundane.
I'd have to see it played out, I guess. I took as George fucking with them, or what sumi suggested -- repeating what Dick had told them. I've never seen it done, and it doesn't sound promising to me, but that's just me.
I'd almost prefer it to be cancer in the Matrix way of "Humans are a disease, and we are the cure" but then they'd have nothing left to eat.
And if they're taking over the globe that fast and invasive, that was a fuckton of Leviathans inside Cas. What's the occupancy of the Chrysler building? Can they breed?
And if they're taking over the globe that fast and invasive
How many do you estimate they are? I figure the capacity was effectively infinite, since it seemed to be ooze, but I don't get the impression that there are necessarily more leviathans than there could be demons loosed from hell or anything. It feels like there are a couple people in most sizable population centres. Which is a lot, but...I dunno. It doesn't feel fucktonnish to me.

On a meta level, I just don't think there's any room for that in the back half. I think it could be misleading, maybe even tangential, but not plain wrong. We don't have time. Not with Sam's breakdown and the probable also inclusion of monsters of the week in the remaining seven eps.
I just hope it's not at the end of the episode.
Oh, that's the first thing I said to D Friday after ep was "You know he'll show up in the last 30 seconds next week."
I was still irritated that I thought I'd lost a week.
I don't have a good theory; I got NOTHING from the preview that ties into Dick's motivation. The most logical ideas to me seem to be either "humans are the cancer" or "if we have to live on earth, we're all going to have lots of money and extra humans to eat" but there are huge logic holes in both.
I am very curious for Friday.
"You know he'll show up in the last 30 seconds next week."
Their promo people haven't done that to us before, that I recall. I don't have any strong reason to expect they'll start now.
I was grumpy. I was perfectly down with Cas showing up in the last 30 seconds of last week's show, and no dancing Dean, no Cas, no clue about Dick...(heh, I am 12.)
the Padababy is here!
