Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is an amazing work of background for her fusion worldbuilding but she hits some of my hotbuttons *hard*. I get you have to put Sam and Dean closer in age for school reasons, but one year! No, it's too little. Two, at least. Also, what is the rationale for not having the special kids all in the same year? I don't see any reason not to.

On the other hand, her fanon, her sweat, her pick.

It's not like I'm doing shit.

I think I'm the only one in Fandom who moans "Oh noes!". /tears up geek card

Sorry, I don't get her appeal. --What a mean, bitter, cranky thing to say. Enjoy her, those who do! I just don't get it. I'm the same way with Jane Espenson. DO NOT GET. /runs far away

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I kind of have an involuntary lip curl to merging SPN with the Harry Potter stuff too. Though perhaps it's due to having been at a convention where a fan insisted on asking all the cast what house they thought the sorting hat would put them and their characters into, with the clear oblivious assumption that they'd be as fervent about the Rowling series as she was.

Do you not get her appeal, Julie, or do you dislike her?

I could really not care less about what house any fandom's characters sort into, and the endless debates about them glaze my eyes over. I enjoyed Harry Potter well enough, but the houses are like astrological signs to me, except less flexible, and perhaps even less interesting.

I'm sure some people get the Slytherin nuance or whatever, but I don't care.

I spent a long time looking at that diagram, and I couldn't tell you what house anyone was in, even the teachers that were named explicitly. I don't know their colours or anything. Honestly, I'm not even sure what houses the HP protagonists are in.

Totally over my head. I liked the books as much as you can without being a fan, I guess.

Because books.

Why are Jo and Dean the same age? I always assumed Jo was closer to Sam's age.

I'm drawing a blank -- who is Rachel?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Or younger.

Rachel was an angel ally of Castiel's that he ended up killing, or something. I only remember (um, to the extent I do) because her name came up in a different story last night.

I don't get her appeal, but I don't dislike her. I don't find her especially talented, or especially attractive (on the level of me wondering if maybe that's the appeal that bypasses any lacking of talent). Is it the geek cred?

I don't think she's horrible, but I'm baffled by the excitement over her.

Yes! Another thing!

Maybe it's weird what you hold onto and need in your AUs, but age-induced relationship characteristics are important to me. I can handle a bit of tweaking of Cas's age because he's new to humanity in canon, but as a tip of the hat to the fact that he's actually older than mankind, don't make him Sam's age. Please. Don't actually make him younger than Dean. Make him socially younger if you need to (which doesn't have to mean all the things authors seem to think), but not year-wise.

And Jo's age is relevant to her relationship with Dean, so why bother mess with it? Sam's year should have a lot more people in it.

Rachel is the angel who worked with Castiel.

I just read another fic yesterday with Dean having vertigo, and it was important to how the scene played out. It wasn't strictly AU. Please stop doing that.

Also, authors, Supernatural vampires need to be decapitated. Please stop referring to staking or "spiking" them. It's irrelevant.

Rachel! That's right. Thanks, brenda.

(I always forget you watch, and then I'm delighted when you pop up in here.)
