Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Let me go look at that.
Note to author:
compelling (using power or influence to get someone to do something whether they want to or not), so... maybe non-con?
Sure, there's something in the story that could mitigate it, but as described? Yeah, non-con so far.
I just realised I downloaded it yesterday and then my text messages blew up and I never looked. I like it--it's fun, and CAS, COME BACK BABY. ALL IS FORGIVEN. Of course, feel free to come back and cause pain too. I'm not picky, I just miss Misha.
Isn't it fun? I loved it, even if it's not quite the vid I imagined when I heard the song. Not that I commissioned it or anything, but the artist should know IT'S ALL ABOUT ME.
You know when you're reading a story, and you're thinking that just because it's an AU, that doesn't quite justify the liberties the author's taking? But you keep going, because you've started, so you might as well finish? Sometimes you hit a sentence like this:
Dean thinks it's better than being obsessed with something that can ruin your life, like drugs, or sex, or porn
Are they watching the CW too or not? I mean, what are they in it for? Some changes you make, and it's just Jensen and Misha acting out your secret fantasies, and Jensen's playing a guy who loves his brother very much. And that's all the research you seem to have done.
eta: And Misha is six foot tall. Stop feminising him and treating him like he's a midget. Good god. I really need to get better with the back button.
The ones that get me are the ones where Sam and Dean call each other pet names and hold hands and go on dates. Seriously? I read Wincest, and even I can't see that happening.
I hear there's a fair amount of Bobby encouraging the two of them to be together too. And by fair, I mean n>1. Because, seriously, did you watch any of the show at all?
It's a weird line between wish fulfillment and canon characterisations. But some fics make me feel like I'm eavesdropping in someone's Dear Diary entry, and it creeps me out. Stop contorting them like that.
(And of course, the purists will remind me that THEY'RE ALL TOTALLY STRAIGHT, PERVERT, but whatever)
Bobby should NOT KNOW, good god.
I'm eavesdropping in someone's Dear Diary entry
That's what so much fic is, as far as I can tell. By the younger, less experienced writers who are still mostly id and hormones, anyway. They want everyone to be a big happy family!
THEY'RE ALL TOTALLY STRAIGHT
Hey, now. Godstiel made it clear that sexual orientation is not important to him, anyway.
And I totally took the Brady episode as tacit canon that Sam and Brady "experimented." Many times over. In many positions. ::nods::
I have recently realized that my bloodthirst is not shared by many fic writers. It feels like 90% schmoop/dating/meet-cute/romcom fluff. Which, maybe I can see for RPF, where life is usually normal and mundane. But, I don't read romance novels, I don't watch romcoms at the theatre, and seeing as how the fascination with the characters/actors is borne out of a bloody, dark angsty show, why more fic isn't dark or bloody (and then a lot of times it crosses the line and the characters are demons and/or sadistic, which is also a huge NO).
But some fics make me feel like I'm eavesdropping in someone's Dear Diary entry, and it creeps me out
THIS. I start wondering what year such and such a writer is at school, what their major is, what their side/summer job is, and cursing that "write what you know" crap. There are realistic details that cement the story, and then there's subjecting others to your boring life /mean

I need to have this more on the tip of my tongue. No extra dirtiness implied or intended. Usually the conversation is turning to Dean's heterosexuality, but I'm totally not above talking about Sam's bisexual penis. Nosirree.
I really like romcoms. Well, in theory. Most of the actual movies make me scream and run away in horror. But the idea of a meet cute, a bit of angst and conflict and a smidge of misunderstanding, and then intense sexytimes? Not necessarily in that order, some segments repeatedly? I really like.
The idea that Dean and Cas stare tenderly into each other's eyes (jade meets sapphire, the world stops turning) and pledge to be each other's one and only for ever and ever (with a side helping of "That bitch Lisa!" or for a while "That bitch Meg!" (yeah, you rang?)) and everything is cooing doves and hearts aflutter?
NO. That's not what I meant. Yes, the show is one of the funniest things on TV. Yes, they're all capable of scarily intense emotion and devotion. But that does not have to make for crappy Mills and Boon stories, I swear.
And, maybe weirdly for someone who's as close to her sister as I am (or because?) I find it unutterably creepy when every story has Dean and Sam dating brothers. Hand-flappy agitation.
I prefer when people write dub con Godstiel or Leviacas and I just don't read it than having to back clicky panicked out of another sugary schmoopfest where a sugar-snarfing Archangel Gabriel (or, worse yet, an overly concerned yet peculiarly alive Balthazar) decides they just can't go on unless those crazy kids start getting anally intimate. And either Gabriel is pining for Sam, or they're both dreadfully celibate.
Makes me want a matchmaker Uriel fix, I swear.
expect gifs soon of Misha rubbing his crotch. he was just on The Soup.
