Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Hmm. Somebody on my flist just jogged something I recognized but hadn't actually articulated in all the other stuff going on. It may be nothing but getting evil into the water supply, but Cas walking into the reservoir did remind me of a baptism scene from a dozen movies--Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, Big Fish, etc.

The prevailing theory is that Cas himself--his soul, or whatever passes with an angel for a soul--is in purtatory, and that the earthly body created in Jimmy's image simply dissolved in the water when the evil left it, and all that was left was the coat.

The imagery though, was one of baptism, of transmuting from one form (corrupted angel, evil) to another, (freed spirit). That the evil was washed from him the way a believer's sins are washed away, leaving Cas' spirit cleansed and able to enter heaven.

Maybe that image is due to my upbringing in the bible belt, but it did register at the time. I don't know which theory I lean toward--I guess I'll wait and see what canon says. I do believe we'll see Cas again, though, and in his familiar form.

Because books.

ita, I saw Dean holding the coat up to his face on Tumblr. Not on a hanger, but still.

The Tumblr was bluesbayou, I think. I'll look.

Trust my rage

I like the baptism/cleansing image.

I suppose the difference between a powerful image and a cliche is how many times you have seen it. The disappearance of the amulet has always bothered me. But if Dean fished it out, kept it, and is now keeping it with Cas' coat, well that would tie up some loose ends in an image that i would like.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dean fishing out the amulet doesn't work for me--just Sam, holding onto it for a moment when it's right to give it back to him.

I can't believe I'm commenting unanon on the obstinatrix wank. But, Jesus, I'm reading tons of people bitching about improper fic warnings, and the simple truth of it is, she didn't warn properly. That's been corrected (albeit flippantly), but when you say there's no sexual contact and then there's frottage to orgasm and kissing, HELLO?? People with squicks and triggers are going to be bothered.

This is my favourite trenchcoat pic so far. PM has gotten quite D/C, although she's still a Wincester. And daggomus_prime is quite a Wincester, although she's still D/C. I like it. Harmony. As long as you label properly, that is.

NEw webclip for this week's episode.

Dean definitely walked away from the amulet. When he gives up things, I don't think he goes back (see: leather coat, etc.).

Sam, in my heart of hearts, took it out of that can and held onto it. In my schmoopiest secret heart, he had it in his pocket before he fell into the pit with Adam.

Wait, what did obstinatrix do? Which story are you talking about?

Hat trick! This is the Dean/trench coat a la Brokeback picture I was thinking of.

Kneel before Glod. ~Stephen Colbert

I think the boys and Bobby (not giving up on Bobby) have a refuge in the Campbell hideout. No panic room, but a refuge.

Ooh!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In the story I linked to above, Amy, she mislabelled pretty badly. In her summary she states that Cas must take Sam as a vessel, and Dean realises he's in love with Cas during this time. She's careful to state nothing sexual happens when Cas is in Sam's body, and that she had someone with a huge incest squick read the story and check (obviously she is a Wincester, so doesn't have the reflex in place). However, in the story, Samstiel dry humps Dean until he (Samstiel) comes, and then Dean kisses him. Sam is unconscious for all of that, but it goes directly against what she repeatedly assures you doesn't happen. Which, really, isn't fair to the people that can't handle it. I was squicked, but not enough to ruin the story (it's clear where Dean's head is at the time), but I can see where it could throw other people for a total loop.

The anon meme is throwing a shit fit, because many of them came upon the story before she added an "Oops a commenter thinks this is sexual" comment to the end of the warning, and apparently twitter, etc, is blowing up with people saying anon commenters are jealous piss pots, etc.

Fact is, she labelled wrong, and when she fixed it, she didn't mea culpa at all. For some reason, she doesn't see what happened as sexual. It's not a "don't like, don't read" situation--it's a "didn't know, did read" one.
