Does AO3 allow you to opt out of epubbing?

I think there's a way to disable the Download button. But I think it's kind of ridiculous, frankly. I'm totally chuffed by all the people who put my Narnia novel on their e-readers.

I'm remembering years ago someone who used to copy and paste other people's fic and print it because they preferred reading it that way. So, I mean, if people want it, I don't see how it can be stopped, if they're determined enough. Unless the fic is actually posted as a webpage or something where you can't highlight the text. Shoot, I've done that as recently as last month simply because I couldn't stand the formatting they'd chosen (grey text in a narrow column all of three inches wide so that I had to page down every ten seconds).

Yeah, I'd be on the side of "thanks!" if people liked my hypothetical fic enough to want a "hard copy".

Enh, if someone doesn't want me to do it, I won't. But...my browser makes a copy of it to my hard drive when I hit up the web page, so the effect is pretty much the same. But I'll respect the intent.

I do wonder about people like euclase. She periodically yanks down all her art from the web. She even sometimes deletes it from her hard drive. But she has OCD, and I think it's related. I have seen her ask people for copies of what she's gotten rid of, so I don't think she means to take it out of circulation--but it's all a bit weird.

That was me dropping caps for no reason. It should have been S/G. G where he's older than D, and S is properly younger than Dean and still in high school, and they have a claustrophobic upbringing and G calls him "kid" and it just seems....fine for the equally aged kids and weird for their brothers.

I like Gabriel, the Trickster, whatever you want to call him, just fine, but I don't get him having chemistry with either brother. Honestly. And I can't see either Dean or Sam going there with him, given their history. I've never gotten those pairings. But I also don't get Bobby/either brother pairings. (Except, um, that one. Which was sort of sad and plausible.)

Gabriel comes across as joyously heterosexual to me, and also someone who probably wouldn't shit where he eats, if that makes sense. The Winchesters fall on the side of work for him, in a way, and I see him wanting to keep work and play separate, at least sexually.

This. I find I like the idea of them being uneasy allies of convenience who occasionally find themselves weirded out that they enjoy the other's company. It's one of those cases where, for me, glimmers of friendship in the relationship carry more of a frisson than a more sexual tension would.

I could see for a brief flash, Trickster Gabriel having high-spirited fun times with Dean. But nothing serious, nothing repetitive. Their dark sides are incompatible...Gabriel's dark side I only really put in Kali's hands. Dean and Cas--their darknesses work better together.

S/G always have G discovering he's not that bad really! And for me that's like him discovering he's not the character they wrote on the show.
