Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

From the show I had the impression that Castiel was of the rank & file, and that most of the named angels we've seen were his elders and superiors, but Uriel was supposedly subordinate to him and he's clearly more capable (and possibly senior) than the disposable angelic mooks that kept getting killed.

Rank-wise, I think of him as some sort of NCO. Ranked highly enough and experienced enough to be given a critical mission (rescuing Dean), but not a key player when it came to setting overall strategy.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Do NCOs get command?

Never heard of my author before (reveals are out: [link] but I sent her a PM, and her reply was nice. Although it didn't contain A ROUGH DRAFT.

Because books.

Hey, one of my guesses for Anne's story was right! I rock.

Do NCOs get command?

I should know this, and I don't.

I hate the Cas-has-been-Dean's-guardian-angel-forever trope, and I'm not sure why. But I was thinking of unanswered questions I wish would be clarified one day, and one of them would be: when he remade Dean to raise him from perdition, did he see everything? Every atom, every memory?

The mind-reading question seems to be answered, though, since Cas was more simply eavesdropping in the last episode.

Good point. He could have mindread Dean in that first visit in order to get his answers.

I don't mind Cas in Dean's past if he travels back in time to get there. But it's pretty important to me that the first time he meets Dean is in Hell. I'm not sure why. I've read a couple that did that that I didn't hate, but it's rare. I'm not all over a fated love for those two.

I'm seeing some people crow that D/Cers are busted now because Dean said Cas was like a brother to him. Is there a rule somewhere that D/Cers have to have an incest squick? I mean, *I* do, and that line doesn't do anything to harm my ability to ship FICTION relationships. But I know plenty of people that read D/C that don't have a problem with fictional incest.

It's like we're all supposed to hate incest and we're all supposed to hate Sam. I'm not sure why either point is important. Are there really people feeling smug because they're not bothered by incest and like Sam more than I'm supposed to?

Still, my favourites are the people that state that a) Wincest is totally supported by canon or b) they had sex with their brother and it was fine so step off.

Oh, okay.

Oh, and a point I think that supports my idea that Dean can find joy in bits of hunting--his glee at boasting about Sam's decapitation of Gordon. He was like a little boy gloating about his action hero. That stuff is fun for him, man, when the danger's gone.

People said that?! In public?

This doesn't make a lot of sense. The other *major* ship in this fandom is Sam/Dean. So I'd think anti-D/Cers would be Wincest people, and ... I guess they're assuming that the only reason you don't ship Sam/Dean is because of incest squick?

Also, why do people care? I don't care what ship anyone's on. I have mine, and I'm a big girl, I can steer them just fine all by myself. Especially since THEY'RE FICTIONAL PEOPLE.

Behind the veil of an LJ icon or other means, but I've seen it more than once. And, yeah, that goes past YKINMK, sorry. I do think it's weird if you have sex with your siblings. Just throwing that out there.

I guess they're assuming that the only reason you don't ship Sam/Dean is because of incest squick?

Which is a bit of "one true ship." Like, if we were all sensible enough to not have an incest squick, we'd all ship Sam/Dean. Uh, maybe some people just don't think it's hot.

Also, why do people care?

Question number one. We're MAKING SHIT UP about MADE UP PEOPLE. Oy.

I think I'm drawing more horses for this BB. I need to worry about proportions. If Jake were made into a horse, how much bigger would be than Sam (who is not a horse)?

Amy - May 09, 2011 3:08:27 pm PDT #19678 of 30002
Because books.

He'd have to be a big horse, and a big enough horse for Sam to ride comfortably. I wish that didn't sound dirty.

What does YKINMK mean? Don't taunt the old person! I'm not up on all these things!
