Because books.

Sam telling Dean he hurt Cas's feelings was the BEST.

There should be shame.

I'm pretty sure it's evil cackling and egging each other on instead.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Now that Sam has a soul, he digs the profundity.

It's all Greek to me, but Team Free Will as My Chemical Romance? Might align with the interests of some people here.

Sylvia Bond (pinkraygun) is arguing Biblical sexless angels. Oh, honey, no. Like what you like, but you can't deny the Nephilim.

Maybe they were test tube hybrid abominations?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Honestly, in the last few weeks they've gone far beyond what I ever expected to see in canon in that direction.

for sure. And every week it's a little more blatant. Sometimes I wonder & I'm not sure if it's fearfully or hopefully.

Gamblefied promo for this week.

Ah, interesting directing choices there, Edlund. This could go either way.

But whichever way, Castiel needs a hug. I foresee much fic being written this weekend--fixit or celebratory (probably fixit) unless they manage to stun Casfandom into silence.

I keep telling myself there's no way that a network action-adventure show is actually going to go there and have the more macho of its two male leads do a 180° (well, maybe 120°) and get involved in a same-sex romance.

But then, I didn't expect that they'd ever take a sledgehammer to the fourth wall like they did in "The Monster at the End of This Book," nevermind knocking the whole thing down with a wrecking ball in "The French Mistake."

I will be shocked if they address it in any way other than to dismiss it--and even then, why would they bother canonically break the hearts of so many shippers? Writing discord between the two characters is one thing--it's trivial to ship around that. But to explicitly say "they had feelings for each other. It didn't work out." (because, seriously, can you imagine it??) would be too much.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

How do the D/C shippers explain Castiel staying away from Dean the entire year Dean thought Sam was dead?

Dean made a promise to make a try of it with Lisa, plus he had a heaven to run. Dean never asked him to stay, and he had new responsibilities to take care of.

So for those so inclined, they could even say that it (the separation of Dean and Castiel) was Sam's fault!
