I was so sad that they really had a little brother who was leading a normal life but who got torn to bits.
This will only convince Sam MORE that leading a normal life is not an option for a Winchester.
And that last scene: that was beautiful and so true and very important too.

I'm at least glad the other Winchester brother and his mom got eaten specifically due to their tie with John rather than just coincidentally running afoul of some extremely rare supenatural predator.
