Because books.

I've gotten so picky. If I'm going to read more than 3,000 words, the characters better feel like the SPN writers wrote them.

I remember a Harlequin challenge a while back, and I think authors had to choose from actual cover copy as the prompts.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dean was a reconciliator in this fic, which I buy, but he was also devoutly religious and following in his preacher father's steps. In the end we find out he's Michael, so I guess that explains everything, but that's *exactly* why I don't like it. Because it explains why I'm not reading about the character I am in love with.

I get that Cas is hard to write, and people take some liberties and shortcuts (or have girl!Cas shriek at an unexpected lizard) and I roll with a lot of it. But don't make him inherently needy or uncertain or needing of protection. Just not that.

Well, okay, glassyskies broke him pretty badly, but he was still mega-competent in some ways.

However, I'm more hardcore on Dean. He's easier to write just because we have that much more canon, and it doesn't veer all over the place like Cas does. It shouldn't be the weak part of the story.

Some of my favorite S1 moments are when he's mediating the latest growl-off between Sam and Sir.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Relevant to some's interests.

Ooh, thanks for that, Bev! Very nicely done (or almost done, as the case may be).

Nice, Bev. Gikun is the artist who made a life sized Castiel body pillow and wanted to send it Misha's wife.

They're really good. Not necessarily really sane.

Though I'm wondering how they're going to work out the positioning of Castiel's left wing in that pic.

Fuck, I should be working on my spn_cinema. That picture makes it feel like there's no point.

At least I get the impression that Vicki is well-versed in dealing with Crazy...

I don't think her day to day crazy has anything on fangirls.

Cafe de labeill tends to spend most of her time schmooping the hell out of Dean and Cas. And she's good on it, even though the characters have little to do with what we see on the show, and most often aren't above the age of puberty. And sometimes she does this. As much as I like her chibis, I do wish she'd play in the grownup ball pit more often.

And daggomus prime has gone and drawn the pose I was going to use for my next D/C. So that's off the table. Curse her and her crazy talent.

eta: I love this photo. It gives me feelings. They are so pretty, and I love the muted palette. It's totally going into my reference file.

eta²: (I'm just going to keep editing this post--sorry if you already read it) Euclase Sam+Gabriel. She misses out on a key component of the pairing. Size kink.
