"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

An elevator with a minibar

If I build a custom house with secret passages, I definitely want one of these too.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The Creation Con I went to back in 2004 was fun, but that was a combo of being for the show and fandom I was most involved in, hanging out with friends who were also in attendance, and the intersection of blowing off steam after a hellish work year and having the resultant overtime $ to spend. I wouldn't want to make a habit of it.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

This bothered me last night, and still is this morning, so >I gotta say, I'm not loving the tone here. I don't know if anyone here has gone to an SPN con, or was thinking of it, but either way, this comment, especially when taken in the context of the rest of your post, seems rather rude and dismissive.

I can see not understanding wanting to go, but that doesn't mean you should ridicule people here who do, and the tone of your post seems really close to that to me.

Wow, this is hit and run because I just logged in and now have to leave the house again, but I couldn't let this stand. This is a major misreading of my two posts. The only value judgment I offered was my opinion about the high prices and the lack of particpation of the other creative team members. Neither of those implies ridicule to the people who do go (particularly since I said I think it's someone's choice if that want to spend their money on it). I mentioned the fees in response to ita's post about how often the actors do cons. As for the car, I don't even understand why you thought that was an insult. It certainly wasn't supposed to be. I love the Impala. My first car was a muscle car - a 74 Chevey Nova. I brought it up because I thought it implied that there were indeed cons where props were present.

Anyway, I didn't intend to start a firestorm about cons, either for or against. I certainly don't want to begin some sort of ongoing argument about something I don't really care about, and I don't want you to think I'm insulting people when I didn't intend to. I was just mentioning a post from someone on my flist. I doubt I'll be able to get a con myself. For those who can go, have fun, and bring back good stories.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Thanks for the clarification. It just seemed to me that this

Don't I remember someone on here making plans to go to some sort of gathering where she'd get to actually breathe in air that had touched one of the Impalas?

at least bordered on rude when applied to someone in thread. Sorry if I was reading it wrong.

(I just edited my post, because it came out harsher than I intended, so I hope you hadn't read it yet)

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

recaps at TWoP are all over the place as far as tone. Some are vitriolic to the point of "if you hate it that much, why don't you ask for a transfer, and if we hate it that much, why would we read about it?". Others are full of fridge logic and exasperation and fun senses of humor (I loved The X-Files recaps with the action dolls), and some are bone dry factoids. Cindy's were great because they walked that line of love and being able to say "that was really stupid".

Did a con, it was an awkward/bad experience, but not just because of the con, but the friend who was visiting changed plans and wanted to spend our Manhattan day back at the con again. He also left the milk out to spoil. Needless to say I was not happy.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Speaking of recaps, I think supernaturalwiki does great ones. They're detailed but not too long. Factual and not trying to be clever. Rarely can I detect a character bias. They list out pop culture references and name songs played in the episode and highlight quotes. And they usually make me want to go watch the episode again, which I will be doing as soon as I get home. Also it's pretty accurate, although this week they omitted noting that Cara didn't die as a result of Sam's penis.

Maybe it's not what it takes to sell ad space, but it works for me. Other than that, I read Mo Ryan and the Onion AV guy and expect decent coverage. Mo also takes correction seamlessly, at least the one time I noted a fact she had wrong. And it was something sufficiently obscure that I was the weird one for noticing it.

The combo of that organ display dummy and the hook hanging from the chain took me to a Hellraiser place.

I found the first one (the organ display dummy) creepier than the second one... I think it was the eyes.

I'm feeling like I'm missing an episode of Dean/Lisa. I also have a headcold and am connecting the dots more slowly than usual, but this doesn't seem to jive with how things were left in the Truth ep.

Oh, oh, Dean's epiphany face was beautiful.
