Because books.

I think that's it -- she set it up like a meet-cute or a standard romance, but then she didn't follow through. For Dean to go that far out of his comfort zone with Cas on first sight like that, I'm expecting more than random hookups, and a weird fascination with Cas's awkward attempts at making himself more *known*, more individual, to Dean .

I also think it would have worked better for me if their initial connection hadn't been based on sexual attraction, and Cas's sort of too-teenaged crush, but on some kind of quirky friendship, which then led to the sexing, etc. .

I also think it could be hotter, but mostly I think she's doing a disservice to both characters. For me, Dean is way too oblivious and entitled, and Cas is caving like quicksand every other sentence.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm not as steeped in romance tropes as you are, so when a guy says he doesn't want a relationship, I'm very "Oh, okay!" about the whole thing, even if I think it might be a nice idea.

I also like the idea that Dean fell face forward into a pit of lust, and needs to work out that the awkwardness that Cas displays is unique and pulls him specifically towards him-- I thought the conversation with Sam was really uncomfortable and way too slow, but in the right decoration--I'd have rather he'd realised it by then.

I would cave less than Cas, but I'd make sure to cave some. I have caved some. But I doubt I'd be as remarkably memorable as him, so there you go.

Yeah, I think I'm just looking for the happy ending *I* expect, and I can't see how she can manage it *and* make me believe it at this point, so I'm irritated.

I don't usually get cranky about fic, either!

If I were Cas I'd have all the sex and do none of the pining and those situations he walks away with another woman, and I walk away having had some good times,

And Dean has his preferred ass and will get other ass afterwards. That's how my groupie shit worked out.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

We knew that Tamara was Ianto's girlfriend, right?

Has everyone seen this? My favorite is the one at the bottom of the post.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Oh, that is amazing! Thank you for sharing that, Beverly.

Because books.

Isn't it all the same piece, just different shots of it?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Thanks to the big TNT Season 1 rerun I caught "Provenance" last night and really liked Sarah. Has she reappeared on the show?

No, not yet.

Although I'm miserable and mean and don't want the boys paired up onscreen, in fic she is my Sam OTP.
