BTW, this fairies = aliens thing that both SPN and TB have used - is this something that's been in the air for a while that I just missed the boat on? Or did these two shows just happen to come up with this now - independently from each other or other sources?

Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
TB?
I think Marion was speaking more generally, and in that sort of reverent "oh, how wonderful to service the fae!" way.
Sam was the one who put the tonal twist on it, but Edlund clearly meant the audience the do the same.
True Blood
I've seen a 'documentary' on Discovery or Nat Geo or some such positing that maybe aliens have been visiting us all along and citing fairy lore as evidence.
Yeah, I've definitely read papers drawing on the parallels of the two abduction experiences long before either of these shows touched on it.
Proof (for me, anyway) that Jensen Ackles needs to play Paul Newman in the biopic of his life, whenever that happens.
Okay, this episode is even funnier the second time round, and if I have to not have my lovely Sam around for half a season or whatever, soulless Sam in this episode is kinda worth all of that.
Huh. I just noticed that Sam feeds Dean alcohol this week. Poor alcoholic Dean, with all the "rusty" "people skills" and soulless people endlessly lubricating you through your pain with liquor.
I like that Sam focussed on getting Dean back. Obviously not exclusively, and painfully pragmatically, but he was trying to get him back. And not taking the soul deal was the right thing to do, even if he might not be that motivated to get it back--the good of the town was more important.
I also love Sam's "fuck you! angels can't fix me! who are you??" defensiveness. It's almost like he still has the S4 angel crush.
Oh, Amy. That would be such a lovely film to watch.
