Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If soulless Sam is more happy (or whatever's the equivalent), why is he trying to change his state?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

He's not trying too hard to change his state. But I'm sure he doesn't like the idea of his soul being stuck in a cage forever.

I think Sam sees getting his soul back as necessary. He recognizes somehow that he's incomplete.

That said, I wonder what end game souless Sam might be playing if that's not his objective.

What do you mean he's not trying too hard? He's the one complying without question to the terms, and sticking with Dean is about nothing else. He's certainly trying as hard as Dean is. It would be much simpler for him to be off by himself and not trying at all, but he's chosen something else, something harder.

Webclip. Oh, Sam. Poor Dean. Welcome to...you know...the other side.

I am getting such a kick out of Dean being Sam's moral compass.

I'm curious to see which direction they take with faerie. There's old school creepy, and there's skewering the modern cutesy perception. I'd be pretty happy if they did both.

And it looks like we have the funny!

Because books.

Even if Sam's simply "running the math," he seems to have realized that the people he wants to hunt with (if nothing else) value soulfulness.

But he also implied last night (in my reading of it) that he does remember both good and bad of being soul!Sam, and Dean is a part of that.

I don't think it's a question of trying too hard, or not. Crowley has his soul -- there's only so much they can do to get it back from him (without wrapping up the whole plotline in one episode anyway), and he's the one saying they need to play ball.

I'm actually glad that all the pleading Sam had done that he was still Sam, believe me, trust me! was just him pretending. Cuz there was something off about it (bad acting, character insincerity, I wasn't sure).

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Webclip: "You sit in the dark, and you feel the loss." Oh boys, it's so sad and so funny at the same time.

Hey, who are these guys? I remember them and like them.

Cuz there was something off about it (bad acting, character insincerity, I wasn't sure).

I need to learn to have more faith. What was pushing me away was actually on purpose in order to show it wasn't real. Show, I love you. Please forgive me.

I just had a thought that maybe Crowley is lying. That he's being an opportunist bastard, found Samuel and Sam already reanimated, and is using them, pretending to have Sam's soul.

That's probably too convoluted, though.
