It was a rather odd question. Just the beatdown in the alley should have told Sam where Castiel's affections lie. Not healthy, but there you go.
However, I suspect it was just sacrificing character to fanservice, since Sam appears to know everything he should know. I think they just wanted to segue to the "more profound bond" and "I wasn't going to mention it" and to make me roll over laughing in hysterics. Because it continues to be all about me.
I thought Sam was being a little snarky there, *and* it opened the door to "profound bond."

Maybe I'm just inserting the snark to suit my purposes. I should probably watch again to be sure. MY LIFE, SO HARD.
Since we'll find out soon any bets on how Sam is wrong?

I'm betting two Persian on A. And one Persian on Sam just being numb and emotion free ( and mostly ethics free) from the trauma of being possessed by an Angel, followed by the trauma of time in hell. (Plus the trauma of demon!blood addiction and stuff from the apocalypse before he went to hell.)

it seems to me that whoever Sam is, he is someone who is really invested in what the angels are up to.
I'm not sure that's Lucifer. So my guess would be A or C...but I really am leaning toward C.
I think the focus is more on the alphas--because of the questionable baby behaviour and the letting Dean be vamped.
I haven't rewatched yet, because I thought it was so sad and creepy. This doesn't happen often.
ita, I thought he wanted Dean to be vamped because Dean would be brought to the special room to find out who was behind all this: which turned out to be an angel, yes?
