I'm thinking about buying something very expensive. Maybe an antelope.

Because books.

the idea that his apple pie life needs an insta wife'n'kid is depressingly heteronormative. What he should be doing with his everyday is totally important too.

It's odd that Sam wanted that for him. I mean, I could see him wanting Dean to find someone to love, and I know he knew Dean was fascinated by Ben (and the idea of being a dad), but thrusting him from years of horror and apocalyptic battles into a picket fence life seems incredibly short-sighted.

But I think he was clinging to what he thought Dean wanted, or has wanted, and looking for a way to shorthand it.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Hell, I don't trust Kripke with Thessaly, Barbara, etc, etc, etc. Choose your female character.

I have said since I read the book that American Gods should be an HBO miniseries. I could see doing Sandman that way, or as a close-ended series-series, but, yeah, I don't think Kripke is the guy.

Now, if someone wanted to make a Hellblazer series? That's Kripke's thing.

I think Edlund would rock an adaptation of Good Omens (apart from the British-ness, I suppose).

I'm trying to think of who I would trust to do a good Sandman, and the only person I can think of is Guillermo del Toro.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kripke managed a good Ellen, improved Jo, decent Ruby (at least 1.0), Tamara, decent Pamela, great Mary, rocking Missouri.

That's not why I'd count him out.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I see your point, ita. He can pull off good female characters.

At the same time, though, I worry that he would exacerbate the changes that happen when page characters move to screen (e.g.--my standing Hermione rant) that women should be hot and, if not victimy, then literally kickers of ass.

Now I'm picturing my ideal adaptation, and I think I want the Creature Shop involved.

I think whoever does it, we're going to get hot. That's standard comic adaptation. I don't know who I'd pick, honestly. I think Kripke's a decent start. We know he's Vertigo-sympathetic. It's something.

Someone on another board does a photo treasure hunt every day. I've been amusing myself coming up with something SPN-related for every prompt. It's sadly easy. "Leaning"--Dean against the car in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. "Coffee"--"Your half-caf, double vanilla latte is getting cold over here, Francis" screenshot. "Puppies"--JP with that dog with the legs in a cart...it's really kind of sad how many related pictures I can think of easily.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It is something, yes. And I resolve to be glass-half-full person on it.

I just got into an argument with someone who started out by saying S1 SPN was a weak Hellblazer ripoff, and then went on to say S1-3 were Charmed with dudes. Which totally makes no sense, because 4 & 5 are more Hellblazer like (with an explicit Constantine riff for Castiel's look), and Charmed? Really? You're just trying to pick a fight.

It's the Internet. I should know when to walk away. But I sniff at the people who only like 4 & 5, and the people who think angels ruined everything. Fie on them all.

Because books.

I don't know what Hellblazer is, so that's beyond me. But Charmed, really? Not even close.

The Constantine look for Cas is pretty obvious. I think Kripke has more or less admitted he's a fan.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

It's the Internet. I should know when to walk away.

If we knew did that, it wouldn't be the Internet.

But those people were just wrong.
