Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The minibangs start posting Monday, if memory serves.

::hurries to phone::

Yeah, minibang starts posting Sunday, main bang starts posting in October.

The D/C big bang stories I've been linking to were submitted to J2 SPN. Apparently there was a fandom foofurrah about a pairing having its own big bang, but there is no reason that D/C isn't allowed in this main one--it just doesn't seem to be very popular (whether this is cause or effect of the D/C big bang is hard to tell).

Okay, that makes more sense. Although J2 just makes me think of horrific straight up Wincest or RPF.

Because books.

The word "bang" is starting to lose all meaning.

The minis might be fun. I have no attention span for the long stuff right now.

That was an argument I saw in a few places, that people thought it was an RPS only big bang. The community naming is theoretically misleading. But I haven't run the stats. It might be confirmation bias, but it does feel like it's 50% J2, 30% Wincest, 10% D/C, 10% gen/het/RPF and SPN rarepairs.

eta:

I hunger for the long stuff. But I also have no life and try to avoid standing up whenever possible.

That sounds about right to me. Some days the percentage for J2 and Wincest might be switched, but otherwise that's it in a nutshell.

I'm surprised by how little any of it interests me lately. I used to have to pick and choose off the newsletter. Now I feel lucky if I find one story I want to read. And many of my favorite writers just seem to be gone.

Standing up is what I do at work. Or what I did. Now I'm that sad sap who's supposed to be doing administrative crap and gmail and buffistas is right there on my desktop. OMG, I read fic, pron, at work. I try to be good and work a little later to make up for lost time.

I don't read fic at work. Well, not on the work computer. I may have snuck a look at stuff on my phone, but not at my desk.

However, evenings, when I could be reading *real* books, I'm usually trawling for more fic. Eh, I'm on the internet anyway, and it's much easier to read on the computer and watch TV than to read a book and do it.

Theoretically.

Not the long stuff, mind you. I'm not that horrible an employee. We aren't sophisticated enough for any monitoring or blocking, and I try to do it on my lunch, or work through lunch if I read earlier. Usually it's a 10-minute speed read, tops. There's a WIP I'm following that posts in ridiculously short chapters, and I'm way too excited about to wait for home. Which is stupid because then I still have to wait two, three, four weeks for the next chapter.

When I started here, LJ wasn't blocked, and I clicked on a couple fic links by mistake, and of course they were porny and scandalous, and all I could think was "I'm going to be that person!"

But apparently not.

Technically I could still go to dreamwidth or AO3 and read to my heart's desire, but I think talking about it will do just fine. I check for stuff before I leave home, and then just pine for it all day.

Theoretically. BB's been a wasteland for me recently.

Back to the "choosing between peace and freedom" bit and how Dean got exactly what he wanted. My initial hazy impression is about how "peace" is Heaven on Earth, half the population wiped out and/or Heaven being a place of zombie, stepford happiness. And freedom is the "more of the same, nothing different" part that has actually been achieved - hell is in hell, and heaven is in heaven, leaving Earth and humanity well the fuck alone. And that freedom is filled with anger and pain, so, would Dean prefer for the battle between heaven and hell to have been waged rather than what he has now: life without Sam. Would he prefer to be dead, in heaven, Sam dead, in heaven, in peace like Pam's at peace?

So, "peace or freedom" means "heavenly peace, post-apocalypse, or the misery you have now?"

Yeah, I'm so that person. And the one time I got caught goofing, it was actually my lunch break, watching the gag reel. I felt guilty but know that even my ED takes time to get everyone together to watch stupid videos on YT.
