The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

...And then after a while, you decide to get over the COMPLETELY RANDOM thing and start reading again, and then the second paragraph after the paragraph that made you stop reading is something like

Dean waits until Sam gets up, heading for the bathroom on the other side of the floor, and then goes over to his table. A quick glance at the textbooks tells him Sam’s studying pre-law. It fits. Sam’s favorite thing on earth is fighting with people. Won’t back down even when he knows he’s wrong, even when it means leaving his whole family behind.

and the "NONONO, that's not how it works" is just too loud to let you keep reading, which is a good thing, since you have a brunch to get ready for.

Because books.

I had a hard time with the head-hopping more than anything else. Pick a POV and stick with it for one scene, author!

I liked Jess in that story, although she's not really the Jess in my head, and I liked Dean, but Sam felt off to me. And I guess I've never read that particular combination going off together without it ending up Wincest, too, so I'm not sure how the dynamics would work here.

Haven't started them yet. Got distracted by the "go back to sleep" vid (omg so f-ing good) and then got lost on youtube. Will report back.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

I'm enjoying the Jess fic so far. It's cathartic after that Jo mess.

Finished the first western fic, it went wrong the instant Dean had a mustache. And between the setting/culture and the parlance, Dean and Cas didn't map. The prose was pretty enough, but as an AU, it didn't work (I want more of aesc's "Beneath Skyscrapers" where Dean is a detective and the supernatural is normal and angels work with the police, awesome world-building).

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Ooh, that sounds awesome. I'll have to hunt that down (although I will ask, what are the pairings, if any?)

Oops, it's "Below Skyscrapers", not "beneath" [link]

It's eventual D/C. But, my goodness, the world-building!

I have ADD. I'm now torturing myself reading about Dean and Sam as gladiators, except the author chose to change their names. You can tell Gauis is Sam because he whines and Lucius gets all the chicks. And it's over 28 chapters long. Why, Julie, why?
