I'm looking forward to the anime. I actually kind of like the drawnings. They're stylized and not awful. The US comic had horrible renditions of all the Winchesters so these are something of a relief.
I am not so sure about the voices once JA and JP stop contributing. I might prefer listening to it with the original Japanese and subtitles. The Japanese Sam & Dean are kind of cool.
I was obsessed with Bleach (Japanese Anime) for a while. I always watched with subtitles and the voice acting was great (even if I didn't understand). I recently saw the English dubbed version and it was awful.
I have seen styles of anime that could manage a recognizable cartoon Dean, but he's not recognizable rendered in this style. Sam actually is (thanks to Season 1 hair and Padalecki's straight-from-Macross nose) and yet at the same time manages to look more suited to being a pop singer than hunting monsters.
I think I've overshipped. I've broken something.
I realise I'm having a massively hard time parsing any slash fic where Dean and Castiel both show up but either of them is paired with someone else, unless it's crack Sassy. My goggles are totally misted over with just that one pairing.

Well Dean/Castiel may not quite be Canon. But it is so close as to at least be shoulder fired rocket launcher. Is there a literary term for the borderline between text and subtext?
I can hear Dean say, "dude, you fugly". That's really bad.
Just saw a preview for NBC's fall The Cape. A pretty man tragically separated from his family and fighting bad guys to save (the world) his city. Wonder if his name is Adam Winchester?
When I was driving home this afternoon "Renegade" was on the radio. That song will absolutely always fling me right back to Sam and Dean looking tired and desperate, dressed in the yummy all black SWAT uniforms, staring at each other in the front seat of the car realizing just how bad their situation is. Such a perfect use of music at just the right time.
Because I have very little pre-SPN exposure to a lot of classic rock and I also imprint
really
easily, I don't know if the depression and desperation will ever wash off Renegade or Carry On Wayward Son for me. And I'm not sure if I want it to.
I really want to rewatch Nightshifter now.
I was never EVER a Styx fan. But that song, in that moment? It was, like Morgana said, completely perfect. And now it comes on the radio and I turn it up, and I see them, in their SWAT uniforms, walking into that parking garage, and it's pure love.
"Carry On" is not one I'm going to listen to on purpose, even now, because it was so overplayed when I was a kid, but I do love hearing it within the context of the show. All kinds of AC/DC songs have new associations now, too, which is cool.
I was a huge Styx fan when I was 12ish so now their music often makes me cringe
But that song, in that moment?
yeah.
I hope someone gets paid good money for choosing SPN music. Even if not everything vaults itself to iconic, so much of it is so very good...I'm remembering "Spirit In The Sky" in Good God Y'All, or the cheesy crap in Changing Channels, or "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" in Dark Side Of The Moon...and that's just season 5.
