But Show a) admitted that Dean was in love with Cassie, and hasn't actually done the work with Lisa. She's been pretty clearly shown as the ideal of domesticity. I don't doubt they might take the shortcut and make that equal true love. I still reserve the right to think it creepy, because of said work undone.

I think for him admitting that when he thought of himself as settled down with a family, it would be with her is a lot different than the *reality* of being settled down with her, especially in these circumstances. I think in whatever brief fantasies he may have entertained previously, Sam was also settled somewhere, or at least happy doing something meaningful to him. This is far, far different.
